The Boeing CompanyBoeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) Production System Training (PST) organization is seeking a Senior Employee Development Specialist specializing in mechanical instruction to join our dynamic team in Huntsville, AL.
The Mechanical Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality training programs focused on mechanical skills and certification for technicians involved in the production of mechanical assemblies. This role includes assessing the effectiveness of training content, conducting workplace coaching, and collaborating with business partners to identify and implement performance development opportunities. The instructor will ensure that all training aligns with company policies and procedures while maintaining a professional presence in the classroom and lab settings.
Position Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging and effective training content that meets established learning objectives for technicians in mechanical skills, including interpreting drawings and work instructions to assemble sub-assemblies and final products
Conduct hands-on lab exercises to reinforce theoretical knowledge and practical skills, focusing on the safe use of hand and power tools for installation, torque application, and sealing of electronic and structural assemblies
Assess the effectiveness of training programs and make necessary adjustments based on participant feedback and learning outcomes
Perform assessments to evaluate comprehension and certification of employees attending training sessions
Conduct customer workplace coaching to enhance the application of skills learned in training
Deploy development tools and resources to support ongoing learning and performance improvement
Consult with business partners to identify performance development opportunities and analyze training needs
Plan, implement, and evaluate learning strategies and solutions tailored to the specific needs of the organization
Monitor and evaluate performance needs and outcomes to ensure training effectiveness and alignment with organizational goals
Collect, organize, and report data related to training records and activities, ensuring accurate documentation of employee progress and certification
Maintain a professional presence while conducting classes and hosting lab exercises, fostering a positive learning environment
Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures during the delivery of training programs
Travel between 10-20%
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
5+ years of experience with hands on machining and mechanical assembly/operations
5+ years of experience in assembly or mechanical work
3+ years of experience using any of the following systems: Enovia, REDARS, PSDS, CDS, MES, DELMIA, GOLDesp, WIRS, CAPP, IVT, NCM or OWI
3+ years of experience working with detailed work instructions or reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings
3+ years of experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks, and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Experience training and/or mentoring in a technical environment
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Bachelor’s degree in related field of study
Active US Security Clearance
Certification in instructional design or adult education
Experience in a manufacturing or production environment, particularly in mechanical assembly
Experience with training management systems and data reporting tools
