Skills
- Expertise in designing and operating data pipelines with conflict resolution and data quality controls.
- Strong skills in relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL, including schema design and indexing.
- Proficiency with technologies such as Nest.js, Prisma, GraphQL, and Node.js.
- Experience with cloud data platforms and data lake technologies (AWS S3, Kinesis, Lambda, Glue, Spectrum, Redshift).
- Ability to collaborate technically across teams to define data contracts and API resilience.
- Familiarity with real-time streaming data and distributed columnar data stores.
Responsibilities
- Participate in all stages of data product development including ideation, building, scaling, and validation.
- Design and operate ETL/ELT pipelines to unify data from multiple civic sources into authoritative datasets.
- Develop and evolve data models for efficient lookups of election-related information by geography and jurisdiction.
- Ensure data reliability and integrity through monitoring and reconciliation strategies.
- Collaborate with frontend, API teams, analysts, and content editors to align on data structure and semantics.
- Lead technical decision-making and reduce technical debt while advocating for data standards and availability.
- Continuously improve data workflows, tooling, and documentation for internal team use.
- Participate in on-call rotations as part of operational support.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field preferred.
