Farallon Consulting is seeking an experienced Project Accountant to join our team at an established environmental remediation company. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of project financials, collaborating closely with project managers to track budgets, monitor costs, and support client billing. The ideal candidate combines strong accounting fundamentals with a service-oriented mindset and the ability to navigate complex, multi-phase projects and accountable for Draft Invoice Processing. The position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong communication skills and a proactive approach. This individual will report to the CFO.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
· Prepare and archive tracking spreadsheets as appropriate.
· Process drafts on a weekly regular basis for regular and off-cycle billing.
· Budget tracking sheets, SOVs and cover letters as needed for clients.
· Email invoices to clients using AR.
· Responds to requests for information on contracts from consultants, contractors, vendors, external customers, and project managers.
· Review contracts to ensure billing terms, documentation and project set up are correct with agreed upon billing rate scheduled.
· Monthly AR follow up communication, notes for collection and account reconciliation. Responsible for Project/Prop Project Closures and WO reports on applicable monthly, quarterly or annual cadence.
· Review billing terms, check rate schedules and collaborate with project managers (PMs) regarding project billing rates.
· Run proposal WIPs and save to PM folders and email notices to the PMs to review and provide feedback on what should be transferred to live or active projects.
· Handle the release of holds or write offs to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and internal invoicing.
Qualifications & Experience:
· Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. CPA, CMA, or progress toward certification is a plus, but not required.
· Experience: 3+ years of experience in project accounting, preferably within the engineering, environmental, or construction industries.
· Knowledge of environmental engineering terminology and business models is beneficial.
· Solid understanding of revenue recognition principles and cost accounting in a project-based environment.
· Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Deltek Vision/Costpoint, Ajera, BST Global, or similar ERP tools).
· Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and data reconciliation techniques.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to convey financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
· Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
· Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
Hybrid schedule with flexible in-office days at our Bellevue, WA office. Ability to sit for extended periods, use a computer, and perform typical office duties.
May need to lift up to 20 lbs. occasionally for office-related tasks.
