Senior Strategic Account Executive - SLED

GitLab is a leading open-core software company delivering a comprehensive AI-powered DevSecOps platform used by over 100,000 organizations. They are seeking a Senior Strategic Account Executive to join their Public Sector Team to drive enterprise sales within U.S. State, Local Government, and Higher Education sectors with a focus on modernization initiatives and complex procurement cycles.

Skills

  • Proven enterprise sales expertise in U.S. State and Local Government or Higher Education sectors.
  • Strong understanding of procurement vehicles, compliance, and buying cycles.
  • Consultative sales approach positioning technology as a mission enabler.
  • Passion for open source and modern software development practices.
  • Ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments and build consensus.
  • Major account management proficiency with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with GitLab platform usage.

Responsibilities

  • Build and execute strategic account plans aligned with agency modernization goals.
  • Navigate complex procurement cycles and develop multi-year technology roadmaps with CIOs and technical leaders.
  • Partner with system integrators and resellers to create impactful government solutions.
  • Act as GitLab’s primary contact for strategic and large prospects in the public sector.
  • Own and manage your book of business with end-to-end account leadership.
  • Conduct sales activities including prospecting and opportunity development.
  • Coordinate with presales and post-sales teams to ensure successful product rollout and adoption.
  • Provide customer feedback to product teams via public issue trackers.
  • Travel as necessary to develop client relationships and close major deals.
  • Generate qualified leads and collaborate with channel partners to exceed quota.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
