Budget Analyst

Job Title: Budget Analyst 

Department: Finance

Reports to: Vice President of Finance, CFO

Position Summary:

Position is responsible for supporting the Company’s budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes ensuring appropriate allocation of expenses and spending according to the annual plan. Position manages the NCCI financial data call and provides support to senior management related to preparation of presentation materials, compilation of industry/peer group comparisons, and other projects as requested.

Essential Functions: 

• Participate in annual operating budget development as needed, including preparation of premium (written, earned and Inforce EAP), loss and expense allocation spreads to all companies, development of cost benefit analyses, annual actual to budget rollover, and set up of the book of business metrics.  
• Prepare reporting for business unit operating budget review and support all other company operating budget performance, analysis and reporting processes.
• Support preparation of the annual forecast. Monitor performance indicators, highlight trends, collect and analyze data (flash report data submissions, forecast tracking metrics, and tier shift analysis), set up data as required in the model, perform data reconciliation processes, and prepare presentation materials as needed.
• Oversee and maintain the Annual Operating Plan reporting tool.
• Coordinate with Business Analytics to develop data extraction and reporting tools to assist with analysis of financial data and develop and maintain any ad hoc reporting as needed.
• Support the Finance Department in automation and efficiency initiatives.
• Perform timely and accurate reporting for NCCI annual financial data call and support ongoing process as needed.
• Prepare industry/peer group comparisons.
• Support Management Team in preparation of rating agency reports.
• Develop and maintain ad hoc reporting as needed.
• Establish and maintain procedures for essential functions as needed.

Job Qualifications:

Education: 

Bachelor’s Degree required, Accounting or Finance degree preferred. 

Experience: 

One to three years of experience in budgeting, data analysis and reporting

• Experience with budget and/or forecast modeling and analytics report building tools preferred.
