Compensation: $50,000 - $52,000 annual salary

Job Summary: 

The Content and Social Media Specialist is a key member of the National Ability Center (NAC) marketing team responsible for capturing and producing content that fuels storytelling across all of NAC’s communication channels. From social media and email to partner campaigns and print materials, this role plays a central part in amplifying NAC’s mission and voice.


As NAC’s front-line content producer, you’ll bring to life the voices of our adaptive athletes, volunteers, donors, and staff—building community and connection through thoughtful, mission-aligned storytelling. This role collaborates closely with other members of the marketing team on campaign integration, email strategy, and brand initiatives. It’s a dynamic opportunity for a creative storyteller with strong digital instincts to help grow NAC’s reach and impact. 


The position is a full-time, year-round, in-person position with an opportunity to work remotely 1-2 days per week. It requires both creative and analytical skills to design impactful content and monitor performance metrics. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to support events and deadlines. 


Essential Duties:

Content Capture & Production

  • Capture photo and video assets at NAC events and programs to support content needs across all marketing channels—including social media, website, email, print, and partner deliverables.
  • Produce short-form video and visual content for social and digital use.
  • Partner with and support external contractors, photographers, and filmmakers as needed.

Social Media Ownership

  • Develop and manage NAC’s social content calendar.
  • Write, schedule, and publish across all key platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.).
  • Monitor and respond to comments and DMs.
  • Track performance metrics and contribute to monthly reporting.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Marketing and other team members to align social content with broader brand and campaign strategy.

Storytelling & Campaign Support

  • Develop content aligned to major campaigns, events, and donor pushes.
  • Assist in content development for the NAC website, email, and partner collaborations.
  • Provide content input and draft email copy when needed.
  • Support evolution of voice and visuals in NAC’s outbound email communications.
  • Contribute to brand tone, narrative evolution, and content innovation.

Voice of the Brand

  • Occasionally appear in social videos or behind-the-scenes clips to help bring NAC’s brand personality to life.
  • Contribute to creating a human, connective, and relatable social presence through tone, perspective, and engagement.
  • Work with the Director of Marketing to align content tone, voice, and themes with organizational campaigns and real-time events.

General Marketing Support

  • Attend marketing outreach events and assist with booth setup, collateral delivery, and on-site content capture.
  • Coordinate with and manage volunteer photographers and paid contractors as needed.
  • Organize and tag content in NAC’s digital asset management (DAM) system.
  • Promptly accommodate internal and external requests for photo/video assets.
  • Support the Marketing Director with content and asset needs for internal presentations, board materials, and cross-functional initiatives.

Requirements

  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of experience in digital content creation, social media, marketing, and communications.
  • Pass pre-employment background check.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in snowsports (skiing or snowboarding) as content capture often requires safely moving with participants and athletes on snow. 
  • Familiarity with summer activities like mountain biking, paddling, or climbing is also beneficial for effective content capture.
  • Spanish language proficiency.
  • Experience with basic email marketing tools or copywriting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Passion for adaptive sports, inclusion, and expanding opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
  • Strong written and visual storytelling skills.
  • Experience capturing and editing short-form video for social.
  • Comfortable working collaboratively across departments and with external creators.
  • Passion for adaptive sports, inclusive recreation, or mission-driven work.
  • Proficient in Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with social media publishing and analytics tools (e.g. Meta Business Suite, Sprout, Later, or similar platforms).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with social media scheduling programs like Sprout, Hootsuite, etc. 
  • Proven ability to collaborate well across functions and departments, to work as part of a team and incorporate feedback to achieve a final goal.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively to identify content capture opportunities.
  • Self-motivated with an ability to solve problems independently.
  • Attention to detail and ability prioritize effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Experience working in nonprofit or values-based organizations.
  • Understanding of inclusive communications best practices.
  • Strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit to accommodate multiple responsibilities and shifting priorities in a quick-paced environment.
  • Commitment to a positive, fun, and team-oriented working environment while promoting the NAC Values.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to safely lift up to 30 lbs. to shoot photos and video of program equipment.
  • Ability to work outside in various weather conditions, including extreme weather conditions.
  • Occasional travel to the Moab and other outreach event locations is required.
