Position Description
The Director of Training + Learning is responsible to create a comprehensive patient care staff training program and to oversee staff virtual or in person training and topics to align with the current needs of the organization and accreditation requirements. This includes the development, implementation, and management of training programs in the patient care department within the affiliate with focus on Medical Assistants, Health Center Managers and Senior Health Center Managers, Assistant Health Center Managers and Associate Health Center Managers, including the development of curricula, training manuals, and “train the trainers” programs to ensure managers have the tools to train their staff. The Director of Training + Learning will collaborate with other leaders and trainers within patient care and in other departments for their subject matter expertise and to ensure that all training is tracked through a central location.

Essential Functions
· Work with the SVP of Patient Care Operations and the VP of Medical Affairs as a key member of Patient Care Leadership Team. This team will set goals, objectives and standards for training for Health Center Medical Assistants, Health Center Managers and Senior Health Center Managers, Assistant and Associate Health Center Managers.
· Develop curricula, independently and with support from other affiliate colleagues and subject matter experts, timelines, and evaluation criteria to meet training goals and objectives set by the Patient Care & PPMI Leadership teams.
· Business Partner to Health Center Manager(s) and HR staff in maintaining all required training verifications for employee onboarding.
· In partnership with Directors of Patient Care Operations, Health Center Managers, and Director of Nursing create training plans for health center staff (HCMs, RNs, MAs) during their first 90 days and ensure appropriate documentation of training programs completed.
· Provide support, coaching and mentoring, in conjunction with the SHCM, the team of Assistant and Associate HCMs for all staff in Patient Care.
· Develop training materials in partnership with the Learning and Development Manager - Leadership for annual in person training or the CAL.
· Collaborate with the Learning and Development team regarding ITT values training and materials with a Patient Care lens.
· Collaborate with Epic Specialist to ensure Epic training for HCMs, AHCMs and MAs is aligned with PPMI’s standard operating procedures and best practice workflows.
· Maintain an Organizational-wide Patient Services Training calendar noting current and future training programs, orientations, student/resident and preceptor experiences.
· Develop training curricula, training manual and support tools for Health Center staff with input and guidance from the Patient Care Team and Human Resources. Work with Human Resources to assure orientation training needs met and staff is adequately prepared for their roles. Ensures that training materials are current, active and effective.
· Evaluate training effectiveness by assessing application of learning to job performance, regularly checking in with health center staff and managers for feedback, requesting feedback from those participating in training and incorporating feedback into future training and development programs.
· Partner with Medical Directors, Director of Quality, and audit teams to analyze chart review findings and develop targeted training to address identified gaps and improve clinical quality and documentation compliance.
· Develop and/or recommend performance support systems that will result in increased effectiveness and/or efficiency of training programs and enable the achievement of strategic business goals.
· Collaborate with Clinical Leadership to ensure training supports the high quality provision of care at PPMI and is coordinated with clinical employee training.
· Partner with Quality and Risk and Compliance to ensure consistent practices and compliance with regulatory requirements.
· In partnership with Health Center Manager develop schedules for MA interns/externs/learners training experiences.
· Provide training sessions and tools to managers (train the trainers) so they can train staff on important operational, clinical, compliance and financial policies and procedures.
· Partner and work with other departments and team members to develop in person and web-based training modules and skills assessments.
· Participate in development of new programs/business plans to assure potential training issues are addressed within the planning phase.
· In partnership with operations and clinical leadership participates in the building of departmental plans and budgets and assesses the impact of training on program priorities.
· Maintain knowledge of current clinical practice workflows for family planning, abortion and telehealth services by regularly spending time observing in health centers or virtually.
· Maintain job knowledge by attending workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies; and maintains knowledge in effective and efficient training and educational techniques designed for the adult learner and in family planning and abortion care.
· Independently manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high-level of service for internal and external customers.
· As a member of the Patient Care Leadership Team assist in developing, reviewing and implementing procedures and policies, and delivering training as needed.
· Ability to work independently to plan and accomplish goals.
· Ability to lead and direct the work of others while creating a safe environment for learning.
· Ability to conduct virtual and in person training as needed for staff.
· Responsible for maintaining and upholding the confidentiality of all records and information.

Qualifications and Experience
Required
· Four to seven years management experience in training, education, or allied health care field or equivalent combination of education and experience in a hospital and/or health care setting required.
· Proven experience developing and implementing training curricula required.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Access required.
· Must be proficient at setting priorities and organizing multiple tasks with limited direction.
· Ability to track and manage multiple initiatives or projects, including strong attention to detail, is a key to success in this position.
