What You'll Do
Lead product design end-to-end – ideation, wireframes, polished mock-ups, interaction states, empty-states, the works.
Run lean research – hop on calls, watch users debug incidents, extract insights fast, turn them into Figma in the same afternoon.
Define & evolve our visual identity – color, typography, iconography, motion, marketing site, deck templates.
Build the design system – tokens, components, accessibility, docs; partner with engineering to get it in code (Remix + Tailwind). Own the in-product design system across web, mobile, and Slack, including core components, visualizations, and layout patterns.
Design key workflows and experiences – shape onboarding flows, administration interfaces, chat experiences, alert investigation, and Slack integrations. Drive alignment on "core journeys" before implementation begins.
Partner with PM/Eng on roadmap – shape problems, tighten scopes, ship weekly.
Champion customer empathy – set up usability sessions, synthesize feedback, and close the loop with customers and stakeholders.
Be a design founder – hire/mentor the next wave, choose the tools, set the bar.
What We're Looking For
4-8 years designing complex web apps (SaaS, data, dev-tools preferred) – experience in complex domains that builds confidence in dev-tools/engineering space design.
AI-first mentality – you look for ways large-language models and intelligent automation can create novel, friction-free user flows, not just bolt-on chatbots.
Triple threat capabilities – equally strong in interaction design, visual polish, and systems thinking.
Speed and agility – can interview a staff-level SRE at 9 AM and push a refined prototype by lunch. Learn and iterate quickly.
Technical fluency – speak Figma, HTML/CSS (Tailwind), and enough React to pair effectively with engineers.
Startup DNA – love small teams, high ownership, ambiguous problem spaces, and tight feedback loops.
Balanced craft mindset – care about craft but bias to ship. Week-long polish, not quarter-long perfection.
