Senior Software Engineer, Chat - Frontend

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Communication team, you will play a vital role in this wider vision of connection and civility. We are currently expanding our team - as we look to invest more in our chat product. You will help us expand and improve our existing private chat functionality keeping in mind how best to serve a diverse user base across a wide range of devices/platforms. If you are passionate about client development, tackling complex technical challenges, creating scalable and high-performance user experiences, and envisioning innovative and safe communication features, this is an ideal opportunity for you.

You Will:

• Design and architect highly engaging and immersive communication features on client-side - working in Web and App. 
• Drive projects - that both expand our existing features and help iterate on existing ones - take  ownership throughout its full lifecycle. 
• Collaborate with other engineers across multiple teams to develop best practices and share with both our team and beyond. 
• Be self-organised - identify gaps and improve our processes around experimentation, testing, performance monitoring and execution in general  to help us be more effective and efficient.
• Guide and drive high quality standards while we iterate on feature development - both in terms of code quality and user experience.
• Also help shape and develop our team culture, helping us find opportunities to improve our processes and co-create a culture that makes sure everyone is able to succeed. 
• Help recruit future talent and mentor engineers on the team

You Have:

• 3+ years of experience as a front-end or client apps engineer working on complex user interfaces in close collaboration with product and design partners.
• Experience working on large-scale consumer applications in React/Redux, React Native, iOS, Android, Windows,  Mac OS and other platforms.
• Knowledge of testing methodologies, including tools like Jest, React Testing Library or other comparable technologies. 
• Passion for quality user interfaces and user experience, experience working with 
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience​.
