Summary of Job Duties:

The School of Law is seeking an energetic and skilled person to plan and execute signature events such as the Law Alumni Reunion, Scholarship Luncheon, Arkansas Law Review Symposium, and Commencement. The assistant director will create a strategic plan, including a budget, to advance relationships and assist with fundraising and friend-raising efforts in collaboration with the development team, communications director, registrar, student services team, and some student organizations. This position will manage the Continuing Legal Education (CLE) process and marketing materials when needed.

The assistant director of events is an integral member of the School of Law development and external relations team.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential function of this job, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.


Qualifications:

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education

  • At least one to three years project management experience or relevant equivalencies

  • At least one to three years planning and executing events

Preferred requirements:

  • At least one to two years graphic design experience

  • Proven success conceptualizing and implementing new, creative ideas in event design or production.

  • At least one to three years utilizing team members and/or volunteers to successfully execute events

  • Experience with planning and executing hybrid events to include in-person and virtual guests

  • Experience with budget development and management

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Ability to apply strong attention to detail in reviewing tasks and priorities

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously

  • Ability to apply excellent writing, critical and creative thinking skills to tasks and responsibilities

  • Ability to resolve problems and find solutions quickly

  • Ability to be punctual and arrive at work and events on time

  • Ability to remain professional at all times when interacting with donors, guests and co-workers

  • Ability to work with vendors, campus partners, and other internal constituents in a diplomatic and tactful manner

  • Ability to work nights and weekends as required by events
