OPPORTUNITY
AlpHa Measurement Solutions is experiencing aggressive growth through a global platform consolidation and recognizes a need to strengthen its Supply Chain capabilities to meet increased demand and support continued growth. We have an immediate need for a Buyer II to join our Houston-based team.
Our privately held company has over 100 years of liquid sensing experience, is growing, and currently employs 230 team members in Houston Texas and 150 in Shanghai China. We are seeking an energetic, analytical, and self-managed Buyer who wants to be a part of a growing purchasing team, who is motivated to advance the company’s goals, and who can take purchasing and vendor management to the next level.
Our global headquarters is conveniently located in Houston at the southwest intersection of I-69 and Sam Houston Tollway, just north of Sugar Land.
This individual will report directly to the Procurement Supervisor.
Classification?: Salaried, Full-Time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and as required to maintain business momentum.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary
The Buyer II at AlpHa Measurement Solutions will play a tactical and strategic role within our Supply Chain organization. We seek a charismatic, self-motivated Buyer to purchase quality equipment, materials, supplies, and services utilizing our ERP system. You will also research vendors and wholesalers to determine which products meet our needs, then negotiate with the supplier to obtain a favorable price and terms. Your main responsibilities include managing vendor relationships and researching new and innovative components and products that will enhance our operations. You will occasionally prepare detailed bid specifications, requests for proposals and quotations for commodities and services, and generate purchase orders, as requested.

Requirements
Required Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or with professional certification
Minimum 5 year’s Production Purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment, with focus on mechanical and electrical components.
Experience creating, reporting, and utilizing common purchasing metrics to drive improvements.
Experience negotiating, as well as sourcing new suppliers.
Excellent organization, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to interact with people at all levels of the organization both inside and outside the company.
Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast paced and changing environment.
Must be a quick learner and able to effectively react quickly to changing priorities.
Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Experience using a named MRP or ERP system.
Ability to occasionally travel, day trip or short overnight to visit key suppliers. Less than 10% of time.
Must be comfortable working with diverse team members
Must be able to work occasional overtime to meet business needs.
Must be conversant in English for safe and effective performance of the job.
Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
