The Advanced Manufacturing Company of America (“Amca”) is a legacy business, built for the future. We’re putting engineers back in charge of aerospace and defense and rapidly delivering what the industry needs.
Overview:
You will own electrical design, analysis, and testing for mission-critical hardware.
Responsibilities:
Design, prototype, and qualify electrical hardware
Design electrical hardware for the future of aerospace
Take system requirements and own schematic creation, component selection, de-rating, and PCBA layout
Initial responsibilities will be for human machine interface components like electromechanical switches, panels, and displays
Develop bring-up and validation plans for new hardware, including bench testing, functional checks, and environmental qualification to meet aerospace regulations.
Work with customers and internal engineers to define requirements, identify constraints, and translate them into robust electrical architectures
Troubleshoot circuit failures and revise designs to improve margin, simplify manufacturing, or address integration issues
Document designs in accordance with internal standards and support traceability for customer qualification
Work with technicians and manufacturing teams to verify builds and resolve issues in production
Improve legacy products for performance and manufacturability
Redesign existing hardware using schematics, datasheets, and physical teardown
Rethink electrical systems to improve performance, reduce cost, or eliminate obsolete parts
Interface with vendors and contract manufacturers to qualify alternative parts or fabrication processes
Support test and production engineering to diagnose build issues and implement corrective actions
Make revisions to documentation and test procedures as components are updated and improved
Assist with test development for electrical hardware
Design electrical test beds that functionally test the hardware you designed
Work with test engineering to create electrical test hardware that is capable of withstanding environmental testing for both qualification and acceptance testing
Support with writing test software to interact and functionally test your designed hardware
Work with the test department (technicians and test engineering/specialists) to make your acceptance test as production friendly as possible.
Make link between firmware and software needs of hardware
Understand the firmware and software requirements of the designed electrical hardware
Able to perform basic troubleshooting of existing firmware and hardware of existing designs
Assist with solving specific firmware and software solutions Amca will need for our new designed hardware (big plus if capable of writing your own aerospace grade firmware rapidly for your own designs)
Qualifications:
Extremely curious and hands-on; driven to understand how things work and how to make them better
Skilled in circuit design, simulation, and analysis across analog, digital, and power domains
Comfortable with hands-on debugging using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers
Proficient with modern electrical CAD tools (e.g., Altium, KiCad) and version control systems
Strong communicator—able to write clear documentation and work cross-functionally with speed
Experience in aerospace, automotive, chemical, or other high-reliability applications preferred
Plus: familiarity with DO-160, MIL-STD, or other qualification and certification frameworks
