Job Description:

Summary:

The Reporting Analyst is responsible for conducting trainings and requirements gathering with key stakeholders and end users of University Advancement’s CRM Advance database and MicroStrategy business intelligence platform. The incumbent will effectively identify and translate the business needs and processes to inform the larger strategy for maintaining a robust reporting environment for University Advancement (UA) to include: automated and self-service reporting; analytics and forecasting; data visualizations; and dynamic dashboards. The Reporting Analyst will lead in further developing the training environment for the division and serves as a liaison between the Reporting team and key stakeholders/business units. The incumbent will act as a connector between teams, fostering communication by facilitating cyclical unit meetings, organizing division wide training sessions, conducting new hire onboarding training sessions in MicroStrategy, as well as creating and maintaining detailed documentation and training instructions for end users. The Reporting Analyst will partner across the Reporting team and the Office of Information Technology (OIT) to continue to build out and enhance the reporting environment in the MicroStrategy business intelligence tool; informed by the work and feedback of our end users.

Essential Functions:

1.) Training and Troubleshooting

  • Lead scheduled and ad-hoc training with users on how to build, edit, navigate, and use reports and dashboards in CRM Advance, MicroStrategy, and Microsoft Excel, as well triage non-reporting issues and direct users to appropriate partners as necessary.

  • Great documentation and guides on both team processes and user processes for knowledge sharing and training purposes.

2.) Requirements Gathering

  • Conducting requirements gathering with key stakeholders and end users of CRM Advance and MicroStrategy and/or facilitating training and documentation.

  • The incumbent will effectively identify and translate the business needs and processes to inform the larger strategy for building a robust reporting environment for University Advancement (UA).

3.) Reporting

  • Using solicited requirements, the Reporting Analyst will produce reports or visualizations using CRM or MicroStrategy reporting environments.

4.) Divisional Support and Unit Administration

  • Manage ongoing and special projects related to the division’s and university’s data needs and information systems to include cyclical reporting for fiscal year summaries and survey participation.

  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the division of Development and Alumni Relations.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • Full-Time.

  • 35 hours per week.

  • This position may require occasional evening and weekend work for time-sensitive projects and participation in scheduled divisional events such as All-American Weekend (AU’s alumni and family weekend), the annual Scholarship Luncheon, and the annual President’s Circle Dinner.

Salary Range:

  • $70,450-$76,000 annually.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree Or equivalent education, training and experience with data analytics and advanced reporting.

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in the field of business analysis, , library or database management, reporting, data integrity, prospect research, and/or data verification.

  • Strong customer service orientation and the ability to maintain collaborative and collegial working relationships with colleagues and other stakeholders within and across the campus community, recognizing that the functions of this role are integral to the achievement of UA’s goals and objectives.

  • Two or more years of relevant work experience in the field of requirement gathering, instructional design and training, reporting, library or database management , reporting, data integrity, prospect research, and/or data verification. 

  • Familiarity with CRMs, databases, and/or business intelligence systems (Ellucian CRM Advance, MicroStrategy and/or a related business intelligence tool a plus); demonstrated experience in achieving proficient use in at least one such business tool.

  • Proficiency using MS Office suite, particularly Excel.

  • Demonstrated experience in conducting requirements gathering and ability to translate the technical and functional through workflow maps, diagrams, and analytical or narrative reports.

  • Attention to detail with methodical approach to work, ability to identify technical and functional issues, contribute to business process improvements, and the ability to clearly document progress and solutions.

  • Demonstrated experience related to fundraising or support in a campaign, alumni, or constituent relations with a strong working knowledge of the functions, priorities, industry vocabulary, general operations, and best practices entailed within.

  • Maturity, sound judgment, and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a deadline-oriented environment.

  • Advanced degree or training in Information Science, Business Administration, Analytics, Information Technology or related field.

  • Experience leading teams through training, change management, and user adoption of tools and processes.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master's degree.

  • 4-6 years of relevant experience.
