Vice President - Finance, North America Risk & Controls

Burson, a global communications leader and part of WPP, seeks a Vice President of North America Risk and Controls to enhance and support the company's control environment and compliance within the Finance function across the North America region.

Skills

  • Accounting and auditing expertise with ability to identify control deficiencies.
  • Knowledge of IFRS, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, SEC, PCAOB requirements.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage changing environments.
  • Ethical, dependable with strong partnership-building skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Drive continuous improvement in the Company's control environment with ownership of internal controls.
  • Support and promote a culture of control compliance and continuous controls improvement.
  • Provide training and development on controls and support controls implementation.
  • Collaborate with local and global teams on risk and controls initiatives in North America.
  • Identify risk areas and partner with finance teams to design and implement controls.
  • Establish improvement timelines and implement remediation plans for control gaps.
  • Develop sustainable solutions to strengthen the control environment.
  • Support rollout of new policies and ensure compliance adaptation.
  • Provide training and guidance on control requirements to finance teams.
  • Assist in preparing communications for stakeholders including internal and external auditors.
  • Build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships.
  • Monitor audit schedules and track reports and outcomes.
  • Respond to ad hoc audit and risk/control requests.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required.
  • CPA or Chartered Accountant designation is a plus.
