Overview

This is a full-time research genetic counselor position. This position will support the Genomic Answer for Kids project and potentially other genomic studies withing the Children’s Mercy Research Institute.  Specific responsibilities include overseeing the research genetic counselor assistants, communicating with families/patients enrolled in research studies, provide in person and TH genetic counseling related to research studies, work with marketing to create newsletters and updates, present to providers and community groups on various research projects, submit manuscripts/abstracts, supporting research center staff including variant analysts, principle investigators, and laboratory staff with research genetic testing process, track and route samples for research genetic testing, communicate with providers about research study processes and results, medical record review and curation of phenotypes.

If you are selected for this position, you will be asked to supply your immunization records as proof of vaccination. If you and have any concerns about receiving these vaccines, medical and/or religious exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources.

Responsibilities

  • Provides quality inpatient and outpatient clinical care for patients in Clinical Genetics and fifteen subspecialty clinics (FHC, Cardio, Cleft Palate, Craniofacial, etc).
  • Clinical Leadership: Serves as a clinical resource for the education and consultation needs of the health care team, community care providers, student learners, family advocacy groups and peer organizations.
  •  Utilizes evidence-based practice principles and participates in performance improvement activities.
  • Utilizes expertise to control costs facilitating good stewardship of fiscal resources.
  • Participates in scholarly activities that contribute to the body of knowledge surrounding Genetic Medicine.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree and 10 years of experience 
  • Certified Genetic Counselor
  • M.S. in Genetics Counseling Required
  • ABMG or ABGC eligibility Required
  • ABMG or ABGC certification Required

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $36.64/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

 

 

Remote Work/Work from Home

This position is entirely remote or work from home. The person hired must live in the Kansas City metro area or request advanced approval to work outside of the area and may attend onsite meetings, as scheduled.
