Job Responsibilities
Patient Care - Conducts comprehensive behavior assessments which require dedicated time, expertise and supervision to complete individual plans. Works with interdisciplinary teams in treatment planning; develops behavior plans for more acute patients, maintains monitoring of progress r/t goals; coaches, mentors staff in plan delivery. Collects, analyzes data, makes decisions regarding care, includes initial screening, behavioral assessment, reassessment and care discontinuation. Works with interdisciplinary teams to plan for behavioral management and safety; responds to crisis codes, collaboratively creates plans to manage behaviors to inpatient/ambulatory medical safety.
Family Education - Communicates clear parental attitudes and behaviors that affect treatment. Facilitate problem solving of behavioral-medical treatment options. Provide intensive individualized care per request. Participate in team staffing of children and case reviews as they occur. Provide for the exchange of appropriate patient care, trauma informed care and clinical information when patients are admitted, referred, transferred or discharged attends family meetings & provides individual education in regards to behavior management recommendations. Initiates/key role in case conferences. Provides coaching to families on engaging in leisure activities and discussions regarding family expectations; provides parent and staff education regarding behavioral interventions and safety plans; demonstrates leadership to staff in working with diverse families by providing support to families and co-workers. Consistently integrates age specific and culturally diverse concepts into patient care, considering both the patient's chronological age and developmental functioning.
Behavioral Assessment - Anticipate, utilize data to make adjustments, evaluating and inform treatment planning. Collect and analyze data to address progress through treatment where adjustments may be needed to communicate back to the team for analysis. Provide insight into antecedent events and consequences that may affect behavioral treatment. Utilize safe management and crisis intervention techniques as appropriate. Assist in case presentation and problem-solving of behavioral-medical treatment options. May require to provide staff training on behavior plans.
Clinical Expertise - Established expert in agreed upon areas that will assist units to achieve optimal patient outcomes, in regards to behavioral safety; organize and lead care conferences to address difficult or long term patient care issues; is recognized as a house wide resource for clinical practice and operational systems.
Family Education - Communicates clearly parental attitudes and behaviors that may affect treatment both verbally and in writing. Facilitate problem solving of behavioral-medical treatment options. Participate in team staffing of children and clinical case reviews as they occur. Provide for the exchange of appropriate patient care and clinical information when patients are admitted, referred, transferred or discharged Function as a member of the inpatient units to provide support and input regarding parental issues or child characteristics that influence the treatment of the child.
