Job Description:
This role is remote-friendly.
Development Tech Leads contribute to the overall data integration architecture and design of multi-terabyte marketing solutions that integrate and optimize our client's data across numerous sources. Merkle's solutions enable our clients to better communicate to their customer and prospects across a number of marketing channels and media. Development Tech Leads will be immersed in the development and maintenance of marketing database solutions to meet client business objectives. You will have an opportunity to work with a cross-disciplinary team across various divisions of the MS group.
Responsibilities:
Data warehouse architecture and ETL design
Build and maintain SQL procedures and ETL processes
Manage and mentor a team of developers in a matrix organization
Design and implement technical vision for client project
Own overall project architecture and technical delivery of solution
Interact with client on regular basis
Assist in requirements gathering and data analysis
Estimate work effort and assist the Project Manager with task planning and LOE (level of effort) estimates
Provide technical leadership and oversight of a project development team
Review work product of others for compliance with development standards
Provide guidance and mentoring in database marketing development best practices
Write technical documentation
You will interact regularly with a wide range of internal Merkle teams (including Quality Assurance, Campaign Management, Business Intelligence, Information Technology, Developers, Project Managers) to support the development and/or ongoing maintenance of the solution.

Skills/Experience:
Experience with ETL concepts, processes, and tools - Talend, Informatica, SSIS, or DataStage
Experience with relational and dimensional database concepts
Strong understanding of SQL and database programming
Strong understanding of file management concepts, processes, and tools - sFTP, PGP Encryption, Sterling
Strong understanding of scheduling/automation concepts, processes, and tools - Tidal
Strong understanding of common IT offerings - e.g. Operating systems, storage, backups
Strong understanding of database platforms - SQL Server, Netezza, Oracle
Understanding of cloud technologies and/or big data platforms - AWS, GCP, Azure, Hadoop
Strong knowledge of software engineering and development methodologies, techniques, and tools, including SVN, Issue Tracking (Jira), and Software Development Lifecycle (waterfall, agile)
Ability to serve as technical point of contact for the solution both internally to Merkle and in interactions directly with the client
Ability to hand off work to other development resources - both US and off shore
Strong project/task management skills
Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written
Ability to present, both verbal and written, to team members, capability members, portfolio members, and clients at the appropriate technological level
Working knowledge of at least one BI tool, such as Tableau, Cognos, Business Objects or Microstrategy. Experience with a campaign tool, such as Adobe Campaign, Unica, Alterian
Requirements:
5+ years' experience with ETL tool(s) - Talend, Informatica, SSIS, DataStage
5+ years' experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle or other major RDBMS
3+ years' experience as a team lead
Experience with cloud technologies AWS, GCP, Azure and/or Hadoop
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Computer Science or related IT field, or relevant professional experience
Experience with Customer Data Integration or Master Data Management preferred
Experience in database marketing preferred
Experience designing and implementing large databases and data warehouses utilizing both relational and dimensional design concepts
Technical consulting experience a plus
The annual salary range for this position is $113,000-$182,850. Placement within the salary range is based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and other factors permitted by law.
