Job Description:
Color Guard Instructor (Lead):-Teach and coordinate the Color Guard
-Choreograph and teach relevant work for the Color Guard section for fall marching shows
-Assist with design choices for the Color Guard section, including flags, uniforms, equipment, hair/makeup, and other choices as needed
-Rehearse Color Guard students in 2-week band camp (July)
-Rehearse Color Guard students in weekly rehearsals beginning August-November on Tuesdays and Thursdays (approx. 3:30-7:30 PM)
-Help to reestablish and coordinate the Chaparral Winter Guard Program
-Assist with logistics of transportation of Color Guard Equipment on and off the field
-Assist in the recruitment and team-building of current and future Color Guard sections
-Perform other related duties as assigned or requested
-Either perform or facilitate the regular cleaning, maintenance, and minor repairs of all Color Guard equipment
-Assist with planning and design of Winter Guard Shows
-Assist with planning and design of Marching Field Shows
Applicants for the Color Guard position are in charge of working collaboratively with the band director and staff to recruit, train and develop a successful color guard program. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to develop a basic skill program, choreograph the routines for the fall marching band show, contribute to the design process of the marching band, attend and supervise practices for the color guard, and instruct during the marching band rehearsals. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to academics, strong fundamental skills and sportsmanship. The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate with administrators, teachers, coaches, sponsors, students, parents and members of the community to insure that the school stands out with pride for our community.
