Informa Markets, a division within Informa, creates global platforms for industries. We organise over 500  large-scale branded and transaction-oriented events in 14 specialist markets. These are typically not-to-be-missed annual events where buyers and sellers build relationships, see and show products, and do 
business.

We also provide year-round online platforms where companies showcase their businesses and products and buyers conduct research, generating valuable leads, and we provide data and digital content that supports the flow of knowledge and transactions in markets.

Job Description

Informa Markets – Engineering is seeking a managing editor to join Powder & Bulk Solids, the premier B2B media brand covering dry processing and bulk solids handling across industries such as food and beverage, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals. The managing editor will produce high-quality content aimed at helping professionals working in dry processing and bulk solids handling stay on top of the news, technologies, trends, and equipment needed to help them succeed at their jobs.

This position will support all branded editorial channels and products — including the Powder & Bulk Solids website, social media channels, email newsletters, monthly print magazine, and webinars. The ideal candidate for this position thrives on producing a high volume of compelling, quality content that connects the dots around industry trends impacting processing professionals; keeps our readers apprised of new technology developments in related industries; and drives website traffic — all while adhering to daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines. The right candidate must have creativity and outside-of-the-box thinking skills to brainstorm story ideas, new approaches to content, and tactics for digital growth.

This role is open to candidate in the following cities: Dallas, Chicago, Boulder and Santa Monica

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting research, interviewing industry sources, writing stories, recruiting stories, and editing content on bulk solids processing and related topics on deadline to educate the community and support digital growth
  • Brainstorming, pitching, developing, and executing on relevant editorial content
  • Identifying and staying on top of key industry trends, including communicating with industry leaders to identify emerging trends, story ideas, and significant industry developments
  • Going beyond the press release to provide analysis and/or insight, bringing real value to readers and content that other outlets aren’t offering
  • Generating high-impact content in a variety of formats and channels, including infographics, video, podcasts, ebooks, reports, webinars, and other content formats beyond just written articles
  • Maintaining positive professional relationships with authors, freelancers, industry experts, key clients, colleagues, and other internal and external contacts
  • Measuring, monitoring, and optimizing content effectiveness using analytics and data
  • Implementing SEO best practices and strategy in writing and beat coverage
  • Building relevant e-newsletters and optimizing subject lines, headlines, and decks for maximum engagement
  • Producing and editing content for use in monthly print magazine
  • Managing the Powder & Bulk Solids website, including posting articles, curating the homepage, etc.
  • Producing content in multimedia formats (video, podcasts, infographics, etc.) and adapting content for social media to grow reach and engagement in line with trends in content consumption and meet readers where they are
  • Moderating webinars
  • Attending, reporting on, and supporting Informa Markets–owned events geared toward professionals working in dry processing and bulk solids handling
  • Performing other duties as required

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive editorial and content leadership experience, preferably in B2B media or technical industries
  • Experience producing both print magazines and digital media
  • Proven track record of pitching, developing, and producing high-value content on daily deadline for a fast-paced media organization
  • Experience writing and editing content for a technical audience a major plus, especially content for the food & beverage, chemical, or pharmaceutical markets
  • Strong interviewing, editing, writing, communication, and organizational
  • Demonstrated ability to generate click-worthy editorial content in diverse in diverse formats
  • Understanding of and experience with basic web analytics platforms such as Google Analytics
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices a major plus
  • Proven ability to produce and edit technical content that appeals to engineers and technical professionals
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and content management systems
  • Ability and willingness to learn new programs, platforms, and tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Collaborative attitude and team player
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work in a fast-paced environment, and deliver high-quality content on deadline
  • Willingness and ability to travel to key industry events and team meetings as needed
  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Additional Information

The salary range for this role is $70,000 – $75,000 based on experience.
