Engineering Manager - Laser Test

Lightmatter leads innovation in AI data center photonics, building the world’s first 3D-stacked photonics engine. Seeking a technically strong Engineering Manager to lead laser and photonic integrated circuit test development, overseeing from prototyping through volume ramp and managing cross-functional teams.

Skills

  • Expertise in photonics and laser test engineering
  • Experience with automated optical/electrical test systems
  • Proficiency in test automation tools such as Python or LabVIEW
  • Familiarity with program management tools (JIRA, Asana, MS Project)
  • Knowledge of reliability standards and compliance (Telcordia GR-468, IEC 60825)
  • Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills
  • Experience in integrated photonics platforms (InP, SiPh, hybrid)

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement test strategies for semiconductor laser and photonic integrated circuit characterization, validation, and manufacturing qualification.
  • Oversee design, deployment, and scaling of automated test setups including probe stations and temperature-controlled environments.
  • Own program-level milestones for test readiness, execution tracking, and cross-functional alignment.
  • Collaborate with design teams to establish design for test criteria ensuring efficient device testability.
  • Coordinate test flow transitions from R&D to high-volume manufacturing including SPC implementation and yield monitoring.
  • Manage relationships with foundries, supply chain, capital equipment vendors, and oversee outsourced test services.
  • Lead and mentor a team of test engineers supporting laser and photonics test activities.

Education

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Photonics or related field
