Junior Cost Analyst

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated individual to join our team as a Junior Cost Analyst. The primary focus of this role is to utilize Excel to support pricing and cost verification processes. This role is ideal for someone with strong spreadsheet skills and a keen eye for accuracy, who enjoys working with numbers and improving cost efficiency.

Responsibilities:

• Use Excel to calculate job costs based on vendor pricing and standard markup/multiplier formulas
• Compare actual sold prices against standard pricing guidelines and report variances
• Audit and verify line-item pricing in Excel documents to ensure consistency with vendor price lists
• Apply appropriate multipliers or discounts based on product category and pricing rules
• Assist with updating and maintaining pricing templates and cost tracking spreadsheets
• Identify data discrepancies and communicate findings to the Cost Analyst and VP of Finance
• Collaborate with procurement, sales, and operations teams to ensure pricing integrity
• Support ad hoc pricing and cost analysis projects as needed 

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, IF, SUMIFS), data validation, and formatting
• Ability to learn and apply complex pricing rules and structures
• Associate’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
• Experience with vendor pricing sheets or cost analysis
• Familiarity with Excel tools like Power Query or PivotTables
• Exposure to construction, manufacturing, or product-based industries
