Chronic Kidney disease is a growing health and economic burden worldwide. It is a risk factor for other comorbidities including heart disease, stroke, and hypertension. The Internal Medicine Research Unit (IMRU) is seeking a highly motivated non-PhD (Bachelor’s or Master's level) scientist with in vivo experience to support preclinical drug discovery efforts around kidney diseases. You will be an essential member of this team and creatively design and execute key experiments to address the basic and translational biology of novel drug targets, their molecular pathways, and their connection to human disease. The candidate will work closely with the manager and other Pfizer colleagues to support exploratory and portfolio efforts.

How You Will Achieve It
The successful candidate is expected to drive in vivo biological studies to address mechanistic and pharmacologic questions.
Technical expertise in in vivo pharmacology is required along with the ability to analyze and interpret data.
A successful candidate must be motivated and demonstrate a desire to understand the underlying causes of metabolic disease and basic metabolic pathways involved in disease progression.
Experience with rodents is required. This role will be primarily focused on in vivo techniques, but the candidate will be expected to learn and perform some in vitro skills in the future.
Qualifications
Must-Have
Bachelor’s degree with 6 to 8 years of experience OR master's degree with 4 to 6 years’ experience in Molecular or Cellular Biology, Genetics, Pharmacology (or comparable biological science) in an academic or pharmaceutical/biotech environment.
Experience in rodent handling, dosing and surgical techniques.
Well versed in experimental design of in vivo studies and in the analysis and interpretation of results. Ability to use appropriate software to perform data analysis.
Creative, self-motivated and the ability to work independently, including ability to troubleshoot methodologies and experimental results and reviewing literature to formulate new approaches.
Excellent organization and planning skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment independently or as part of a team, and strong motivation with a dedicated work ethic.
Possess strong written/verbal communication skills and the ability to present at both internal and external meetings.
Nice-to-Have
Experience in pharmacology or drug discovery.
Familiarity with running standard immunoassays such as ELISAs and western blotting, and quantitative real-time PCR.
Experience working in or collaborating with industry.
