Skills
- SQL Server administration and migration expertise
- Strong knowledge of Always On Availability Groups and clustering
- Experience with Chef or similar configuration management tools
- Proficiency with AWS EC2, EBS, and RDS
- Scripting skills in PowerShell, Python, Bash
- Familiarity with database migration methodologies and enterprise backup solutions
- Understanding of Active Directory and Kerberos authentication
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute SQL Server migration strategies including backup/restore, Always On AG seeding, and log shipping
- Lead discovery and assessment of RDS SQL Server instances and coordinate cutover with stakeholders
- Develop Chef cookbooks to automate EC2 SQL Server provisioning and configuration
- Configure Always On Availability Groups, clustering, and domain-joined Kerberos-enabled builds
- Integrate New Relic monitoring and Commvault backup solutions for migrated SQL workloads
- Create automated deployment pipelines and implement CI/CD for SQL Server infrastructure
- Design validation and testing frameworks and implement infrastructure drift detection
Education
- Relevant technical certifications preferred
- Knowledge of infrastructure as code and cloud monitoring tools
