At UChicago Medicine, we bring the world’s most innovative approaches to patients with all conditions, from common to complex. This department is an 24 bed unit split into two sides the north and the south with 12 beds on each side. We are the second largest unit and have a free-floating charge nurse. MICU is the only inpatient unit with a tier 1 score for employee engagement for three consecutive years. You will have the ability to work with physicians that are constantly pushing the bounds of possibility forward, conducting groundbreaking research and providing lifesaving, personalized patient care. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.
The Assistant Patient Care Manager (APCM) will be responsible and accountable for over-seeing the operations and patient flow of a designated Care Center on her/his respective shift. Duties include completing daily or shift specific quality audits and Managing for Daily Improvement (MDI) boards, facilitate daily huddles with staff, and directing delivery of quality, patient-centered care in a financially responsible manner. This is in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Patient Care Manager (PCM). In the absence of the PCM, the APCM assumes responsibility for the unit. APCM supports PCM with 24/7 coverage of the unit.

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.
The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
