Senior Cloud Engineer

Description

Tyto Athene is searching for a Senior Cloud Engineer to support U.S. Southern Command on the SCITES II Contract in Doral, Florida.

 

The Senior Cloud Engineer designs, deploys, and manages cloud-based infrastructure to support USSOUTHCOM’s mission-critical operations. This role ensures compliance, automation, scalability, and performance of cloud-based infrastructure. This role ensures mission-critical services and infrastructure are robust, compliant, and aligned with cloud and cybersecurity best practices.

 

Responsibilities:

• Develops and integrates cloud solutions, ensuring scalability, security, and high availability across hybrid and multi-cloud environments
• Implements automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and cloud-native technologies to optimize performance and operational efficiency
• Monitors, troubleshoots, and resolves complex cloud infrastructure issues, applying advanced diagnostics and security measures to protect cloud resources
• Leads cloud migration initiatives, working with stakeholders to modernize legacy systems and integrate emerging technologies
• Executes lifecycle management of cloud environments, aligning operations with cybersecurity, disaster recovery, and continuity of operations (COOP) strategies
• Conducts security assessments, compliance audits, and performance optimizations to maintain adherence to DoD regulations and industry best practices
• Provides Tier 3 and Tier 4 technical support, mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance cloud operations
• Develops cloud governance frameworks, implements cost optimization strategies, and ensures seamless integration with enterprise systems
• Supports mission-critical applications by delivering secure, resilient, and scalable cloud services.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
• 10+ years of experience in enterprise IT, with at least 3 in cloud operations or architecture
• Strong experience with Azure Gov or DoD-authorized cloud platforms
• Demonstrated experience with cloud security, networking, and automation tools

Desired:

• Master’s degree in related field
• Experience with Kubernetes, DevSecOps pipelines, and CI/CD toolchains
• Familiarity with Zero Trust principles and identity federation
• Cloud Security certifications
• VMware Certified Advance Professional
• ITILv4 Foundations
• CompTIA Cloud+

Clearance:

• Secret clearance required with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI

Certification:

• DoD 8570 Baseline & CE certifications are required for all positions and may vary slightly depending on the skillset required to perform the role
• CompTIA Security+ CE
• CISSP or CASP+
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or equivalent
• ITIL v4 Foundations
