This position collaborates with team members across the College of Natural Sciences (CNS) communications on creative projects that support the college mission and nurture college culture, developing work that advances core communications goals of the college.
Produce video/photo works supporting college communications. This includes creating visually driven enterprise and “science beat” storytelling about the people and the research, outreach and educational programs in the College of Natural Sciences.
Generate ideas and communicate them effectively in consultation with supervisors and campus stakeholders. Contribute to team editorial calendars, group meetings and other efforts collaboratively with fellow communicators.
Prepare and archive files for use by team members and campus collaborators. Provide support for image searches and image editing, such as color correction and resizing.
Support consistent and strategic posting to official social media and digital channels of the college.
Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years’ experience with various forms of media, including video and still photography, video and audio editing, web design, graphic arts and animation, scriptwriting, and interactive media. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Strong time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines while working independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced creative team
Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to convey ideas clearly and professionally across audiences
Advanced proficiency in industry-standard digital tools including Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, etc.), as well as familiarity with social media management platforms, website content management systems (CMS), and project management software (e.g., Asana, Trello, or similar)
Proven ability to distill complex or technical subject matter into accessible, engaging content tailored for a public audience
Hands-on experience designing and producing platform-optimized digital content for social media channels (e.g., Instagram Reels, LinkedIn, etc.)
A robust creative portfolio showcasing versatile storytelling approaches, successful use of varied content formats (video, motion graphics, infographics, etc.), and a strong visual or narrative voice aligned with strategic communication goals
$57,000 + depending on qualifications
This position requires on-site work on the UT Austin campus.
Must be eligible to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis for any employer without sponsorship.
