Instructional Systems Designer (ST2)

Description

 The Instructional Systems Designer (ST2) is responsible for designing, developing, and evaluating instructional materials and learning solutions to support customer training objectives. This role involves working with subject matter experts (SMEs), stakeholders, and project teams to apply adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies in the creation of engaging, performance-based training. The ST2 level indicates a seasoned designer with the ability to lead projects independently and support more junior team members. 


Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct needs assessments, task analyses, and front-end analyses to identify training requirements. 
  • Design and develop instructional content using ADDIE, SAM, or similar instructional design models. 
  • Create storyboards, scripts, and prototypes for eLearning, instructor-led training (ILT), virtual instructor-led training (vILT), and blended learning solutions. 
  • Develop courseware using authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, or similar. 
  • Collaborate with SMEs and stakeholders to validate technical content and ensure instructional integrity. 
  • Align training outcomes with organizational goals, performance objectives, and accreditation standards if applicable. 
  • Conduct formative and summative evaluations to assess training effectiveness and recommend improvements. 
  • Manage multiple design projects concurrently and meet project deadlines. 
  • Stay current with instructional design trends, technologies, and best practices. 

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Educational Technology, or a related field. 
  • 5+ years of experience in instructional design and training development. 
  • Proven experience designing and developing learning materials for adult learners in a technical or professional environment. 
  • Proficiency in eLearning development tools (e.g., Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, Vyond). 
  • Strong knowledge of instructional systems design (ISD) models and adult learning theory (e.g., Bloom’s Taxonomy, Kirkpatrick Model). 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Strong project management and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance (if required by client/project). 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • 5+ year’s instructional development experience. 
  • 3+ year’s developing computer based training. 
  • 2+ year’s developing training using Authoring Instructional Materials (AIM) 
  • Master’s degree in Instructional Design or related discipline. 
  • Experience developing SCORM/xAPI-compliant content. 
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS)
