Pennsylvania Campaigns Director

About the Working Families Party

The Working Families Party (WFP) is the progressive party for the multiracial working class, fighting for a nation that works for the many, not the few. We recruit, train, and support transformational candidates up and down the ballot — and run them to win.

We believe that no matter where we come from or what our color, most of us want the same things. We want to earn enough to thrive, not just survive, and leave a better future for our kids. We want healthy food and clean water, safe neighborhoods and a safe world. We want to be free.

The Working Families Party is regular people coming together across our differences to make a better future for us all. We’re a multiracial party that fights for workers over bosses and people over the powerful. We want an America which realizes the promise – unrealized in our history – of freedom and equality for all.

The PA Campaigns Director will lead the Working Families Party’s electoral campaigns in Pennsylvania, overseeing independent expenditure work in collaboration with America Votes, managing the statewide Election Captains Program, and supervising our growing organizing team. This role is ideal for a strategic, people-centered campaign leader who understands field, digital, and coalition organizing and thrives in high-stakes, fast-paced environments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Independent Expenditure Campaigns:
  • Lead WFP's independent expenditure campaigns in coordination with America Votes and aligned partners, ensuring legal compliance and strategic alignment.
  • Develop and manage paid voter contact programs, including digital, mail, phone, and canvass components.
  • Track political opportunities, threats, and emerging dynamics; advise the State Political Director on key races and strategies.
Election Captains Program:
  • Scale and refine our Election Captains Program: a precinct-level organizing model to boost turnout, voter education, and relational contact.
  • Recruit, train, and support Election Captains, especially in WFP’s core base-building areas.
  • Evaluate program efficacy and adapt tactics accordingly.
Organizing Team Leadership:
  • Manage and coach the statewide organizing team, including regional organizers and field staff.
  • Set clear metrics and goals for base-building, volunteer engagement, and turnout.
  • Foster a healthy, accountable team culture centered in justice and high performance.
Strategic Planning & Cross-Department Collaboration:
  • Work closely with the State Director and national political and organizing staff to set campaign priorities and allocate resources.
  • Coordinate with communications and data staff to develop aligned messaging, targeting, and reporting systems.
  • Represent WFP in external coalitions and convenings, including America Votes partner tables.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Required:
  • At least 5 years of experience in electoral campaign management, organizing, or political strategy, with at least 2 years managing staff or large volunteer teams.
  • Deep knowledge of field operations, independent expenditure work, and progressive electoral strategy.
  • Experience with electoral data systems (e.g. VAN) and metrics-driven campaign planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a team with clarity, empathy, and accountability.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Understanding of Pennsylvania’s political landscape, particularly in urban and working-class communities.
Preferred:
  • Experience running or coordinating independent expenditures or working at/with America Votes.
  • Familiarity with community organizing and relational voter engagement strategies.
  • Demonstrated commitment to racial, gender, and economic justice.
  • Lived experience in communities most impacted by systemic injustice.
