Accounts Payable Clerk
Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accounts Payable Clerk to join our finance team. This role is responsible for processing vendor invoices, maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring timely payments, and supporting internal and external stakeholders with accounts payable inquiries. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to accuracy and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Review invoices for appropriate documentation prior to payment.
- Set up new vendors, including collecting W-9 and ACH authorization forms.
- Ensure vendors are approved in Ncontracts before processing.
- Enter invoice data accurately and ensure timely payments, including autopay entries.
- Resolve payment discrepancies and respond to inquiries from bank employees.
- Assist with annual audit preparation and IRS form distribution.
- Maintain compliance with internal accounting procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Identify and report potential fraud, scams, or phishing attempts.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with internal departments and external vendors.
- Stay current on banking regulations and security practices.
- Travel between branches as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Accounting or related field, or 2+ years of general accounting experience.
- 1–3 years of experience in accounts payable or general accounting.
- Basic understanding of GAAP and regulatory reporting principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial data entry.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation.
