The San Francisco Police Department’s Grants Unit, under the Fiscal Division, is responsible for the financial administration, management, and monitoring of public and private grant funds, special revenue funds and gift funds for the department. Under the direction of the Grants Unit Manager, the Grants Analyst will play a key role in identifying funding opportunities, writing and submitting grant applications, managing awarded grants, and processing grant-related contracts and procurements. The position also supports the preparation of legislative documentation, facilitates compliance with federal, state and local requirements, and assists in internal and external audits and site visits.
Example of Important and Essential Duties:
1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university;
AND
2. Three (3) years full-time equivalent experience performing professional-level analytical work. Qualifying professional-level analytical work includes analysis, development, administration, and reporting in major programs and functions of an organization in the areas of budgets, contracts, grants, policy, or other functional areas related to the duties of positions in the 182X Class series.
Substitution:
Possession of a graduate degree (Master's degree or higher) from an accredited college or university with major coursework in specialized subject matter areas such as public or business administration, management, business law, contract law, public policy, urban studies, economics, statistical analysis, finance, accounting or other fields of study closely related to the essential functions of positions in the Class series may be substituted for one (1) year of required experience.
Additional experience as described above may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis (up to a maximum of 2 years). Thirty (30) semester units or forty-five (45) quarter units equal one year.

Background Investigation: Prior to employment with the San Francisco Police Department, a thorough background investigation will be conducted to determine the candidate’s suitability for employment. The investigation may include, but not be limited to: criminal history records, driving records, drug/alcohol screening, and other related employment and personal history records. Reasons for rejection may include use of controlled substances and alcohol, felony conviction, repeated or serious violations of the law, inability to work with co-workers, inability to accept supervision, inability to follow rules and regulations or other relevant factors. Candidates may be required to undergo drug/alcohol screening, and must clear Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprinting.
