Interim Head of Tax – Domestic & Int’l Strategy and Compliance (Contract)

ETONIEN is actively seeking a Senior Tax Consultant to be Interim Head of Tax for our rapidly growing, private equity-backed client to lead tax strategy and ensure compliance both in the US and abroad.  

The ideal candidate will have deep experience with the entertainment industry and preferably be a CPA with over 15 years of progressive tax strategy, structure, and compliance as it relates to the industry. The successful candidate will be self-directed, hands-on, and possess robust expertise in Nexus status rules and allocation. This is a high-stakes, high-impact role for someone who thrives under pressure and leads with insight.

Key Responsibilities:

• You’ll work shoulder-to-shoulder with the CEO and Head of Finance, validating structuring from top tier accounting/advisory firms, optimizing global tax compliance, and owning critical cross-border decisions.
• Own U.S. federal, state, local & foreign tax strategy end-to-end
• Guide leadership as client transitions key internal tax knowledge

• Lead compliance for income and sales tax across multiple jurisdictions
• Advise on international tax considerations (IP, licensing, etc.)
• Support audits and regulatory inquiries
• Design and document future-ready optimization strategies
• Collaborate closely with Legal, Finance, and external advisors

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• CPA certification or Masters in Taxation is highly desirable
• 15+ years in progressive tax roles
• Significant, in-depth knowledge of Nexus, allocation methodologies, and structuring models
• Experience in Entertainment industry with Private Equity involved preferred
• Familiarity with Federal, State, Local as well as International tax structures preferred
• Strategic mindset with hands-on execution capability
• Minimal travel required as the role is primarily remote

Wide range of factors are considered in making compensation decisions. Exact compensation may vary based on factors including skills, experience, certification, license and location. A reasonable estimate of current total compensation range including potential discretionary incentives is $5000 to $7500 USD per week.
