We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Designer with a strong background in technical performance athleisure, athletic apparel, and outerwear. This role will focus on designing function-driven yet style-conscious apparel, merging innovation in fabrication and construction with modern lifestyle aesthetics. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and able to manage the design process from concept through final execution, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver market-relevant, technically sound product.

Key Responsibilities

Trend Direction & Concept Development

• Conduct seasonal research on technical apparel innovations, market trends, and consumer needs
• Create concept boards, fabric stories, and color palettes aligned with brand and seasonal strategy
• Translate insights into functional yet fashionable design ideas suitable for performance and lifestyle use
• Contribute to the creative development of technical base layers, outerwear, active separates, and athleisure

Product Design & Development

• Design performance-based apparel across athleisure, activewear, and outerwear categories, incorporating key technical features such as:
• Moisture-wicking, quick-dry, and breathable fabrics for base and mid layers
• 4-way stretch materials and ergonomic construction (e.g., gussets, articulated sleeves/knees) for mobility
• Seam taping, bonded seams, and water- or wind-resistant finishes for outerwear protection
• Layering systems, including insulated, softshell, and shell outerwear with function-first design
• Develop designs that balance protection and performance with modern lifestyle aesthetics
• Create detailed technical sketches, CADs, and complete tech packs using Adobe Illustrator
• Collaborate with technical design and production teams to ensure accurate execution of fit, construction, and performance features
• Attend fittings and contribute to resolving technical issues across categories, particularly where outerwear functionality is involved
• Ensure adherence to seasonal product calendars and manage timelines for all key development milestones

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with merchandising, sourcing, and production to align product with pricing, margin, and delivery goals
• Liaise with mills and vendors to develop performance textiles and innovative trims
• Communicate clearly across teams to support on-time sample development and approvals
• Support fabric testing and performance evaluations as needed

Brand Alignment & Quality Execution

• Maintain high standards of innovation, functionality, and product integrity
• Ensure designs reflect both the technical requirements and the brand’s aesthetic vision
• Contribute to clear documentation for factory execution, including special construction details and performance specs
• Stay current with advancements in performance wear technologies and sustainable material options

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field
• 6–8+ years of experience designing technical activewear, athleisure, or outerwear
• Strong understanding of performance fabrics, materials, and construction methods
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; PLM system experience a plus
• Demonstrated ability to design for function, fit, and movement while maintaining a modern aesthetic
• Solid knowledge of garment construction, patternmaking principles, and material behavior
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects on a seasonal calendar
• Experience partnering with technical design, sourcing, and product development teams
• Passion for performance innovation, functional design, and elevated everyday style

Compensation/Benefits:

• The approximate annual base salary range for this position is $120,000.00 - $125,000.00, which can vary based on role requirements, skill set, and years of experience.
