Staff Accountant

Job Summary

This position performs the fixed asset accounting of the church. General working knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is required. Management of multiple projects is required with the overall focus on maintaining the church financial records according to GAAP principles. This position requires excellent written and verbal communciation and interpersonal skills.

Job Responsibilities

• Coordinate and process the accounting and record keeping of fixed assets Insure proper coding and timely posting of all capital transactions.
• Maintain regular and frequent communication with internal departments regarding the status of capital projects, including but not limited to, capital improvements, annual refresh, and construction in progress.
• Responsible for tracking and preparing timely detail reports of capital spending against budget Train staff on capital coding and help process capital budget revisions.
• Responsible for monthly and yearly reconciliation of fixed asset accounts.
• Prepare annual schedules and provide assistance to audit staff.
• Responsible for submitting property tax and business personal property tax exemptions, as well as payment of property taxes.
• Other month-end close tasks, such as invoice submittal, account reconciliations, bank reconciliations and month-end journal entries.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, with aptitude to learn new software and systems
