Our Portfolio Manager plays a pivotal role in establishing and nurturing relationships with new clients, developing proposals, strategizing for bid defenses, and securing new business. This leadership role requires a strategic thinker with excellent communication skills and a deep understanding of the oncology clinical trial landscape. Additionally, the role involves actively prospecting for new business, introducing our company to potential partners, and continuously improving processes.
Duties and accountabilities include and are not limited to:
Proposal and Bid Strategy Development: Lead the comprehensive development of high-quality proposals, ensuring clarity and alignment with client objectives. Collaborate with proposal teams to formulate and present compelling bid defenses, ensuring our strategies resonate with client needs.
Pipeline and Portfolio Oversight: Oversee the progression of leads through the sales pipeline, ensuring timely and effective conversion to contracts. Regularly report on pipeline status and strategic initiatives to stakeholders.
Strategic Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain robust, long-term relationships with key decision-makers within potential client organizations. Develop an in-depth understanding of client structures and operational dynamics to better align our services with their strategic goals.
Business Prospecting and Engagement: Proactively identify and leverage new business opportunities within assigned accounts. Introduce Development Innovations to potential partners, articulating our value proposition in oncology research. Maintain general knowledge of all SCRI services for appropriate cross-sell opportunities.
Qualifications needed include:
Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred
Minimum 5+ years' career experience within a CRO, preferably supporting biopharma partners serving in either a business development or project management capacity.
Strong understanding of the oncology clinical research landscape and CRO operations
Experience reading and understanding complex study protocols
Excellent project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Experience with multiple CRM tools such as Salesforce, as well as all Microsoft Office products including Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint
Experience with AI tools highly desired
Experience working and communicating effectively with executives, across stakeholder groups, and with both internal and external customers.
