The Opportunity

We’re looking for a commercially savvy, strategic and growth-oriented Business Growth Advisor to support New Zealand companies entering and expanding in the U.S. market. Based in Washington DC, this role combines deep commercial acumen with a hands-on advisory approach – and offers a unique opportunity to work with innovative founders and CEOs, helping them navigate complex market entry strategies and accelerate their growth.


You’ll manage a diverse portfolio of New Zealand companies offering products and solutions tailored to federal, state, and local markets (law enforcement, public safety, and security) as well as B2B industrial tech companies. You’ll coach them through refining their Ideal Customer Profile (ICP), validating Product-Market Fit (PMF), and identifying the most effective routes to market, including partnerships, systems integrators, and end-users.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

·       Coaching New Zealand companies on U.S. go-to-market strategies and growth planning.

·       Supporting companies with market validation, channel development, and enterprise sales.

·       Building and leveraging networks.

·       Supporting NZ government programs and visits.

·       Navigating ambiguity and adapting to the diverse needs of a broad range of customers.      

 

What You’ll Bring

·       Minimum 5 years’ experience in a commercial role, ideally supporting startups and scale-ups.

·       Proven expertise in business consulting, market validation, marketing, channel management, or enterprise sales.

·       Solid understanding of U.S. government procurement and sales cycles

·       Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with a high degree of emotional intelligence.

·       Ability to work across time zones and juggle multiple priorities with a “make it happen” attitude.

·       Experience selling software and technology solutions to government agencies a plus.

·       Familiarity with or passion for New Zealand is a plus.

 

Please note: This role is known internally as Business Development Manager (BDM).

Compensation & Benefits

This role is banded at WAS L17 and indicative salary range is between approximately USD 145,000 to 160,000.  This renumeration range includes a premium platinum medical insurance plan (dental + vision).
