We are currently seeking a candidate for a Commercial Credit Underwriter position with Phoenixville Federal Bank & Trust. The ideal candidate would have a college degree in finance, business or accounting or have related job experience and 3 years of experience as a Credit Analyst or a similar position within the banking industry. The position requires the ability to analyze business financial statements and tax returns to determine if applicants qualify for a commercial loan with Phoenix Fed. This would include, but is not limited to, determining financial performance trends of the business as well as calculating cash flow of the Borrower to see if the Borrower has the ability to repay the loan. The position requires working directly with a Commercial Lending team and the ability to provide opinions and recommendations regarding loan structure and credit risks related to a prospective loan. The candidate should have familiarity underwriting various loan types (i.e. C&I, CRE, SBA, etc.) and must be able to document creditworthiness in the form of a memorandum to be evaluated by the appropriate approving authority. Requirements
Job Summary:
· Spread financial statements for comparative year review.
· Prepare business and personal cash flow analysis.
· Compare financial performance with industry benchmarks.
· Assign/Confirm risk ratings.
· Determine if loan adheres to Bank policies.
· Perform necessary due diligence of borrowers, guarantors and collateral.
· Prepare Annual Review and Credit Approval Memorandum for existing relationships.
· Measure loan covenants and test borrowing base certificates.
· Assist with the preparation of departmental reports, as needed.
· Collaborate with Commercial Lending team to provide recommendations and meet with customers on a limited basis.
· Attend Loan Committee meetings, as needed.
· Attend internal and external educational classes, as needed.
· All other duties as assigned.
Experience/Required Skills:
· Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills.
· Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Excel and Word.
· College degree required in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related financial field.
· Ability to review business financial statements and tax returns to determine a borrower’s ability to repay debt obligations and identify credit risk.
· 3 years of experience as a commercial credit analyst or similar position within the banking industry.
· Valid Driver’s License required.
Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands: This is largely a sedentary role. This position frequently communicates with customers, co-workers, managers. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
