The Catering & Event Specialist ensures the highest level of guest service in what SHG has to offer, including but not limited to catering services, private dining, and reservation services.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Reports directly to the Director of Sales


Catering Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Help customers place and manage catering orders.
  • · Be knowledgeable about the menu and able to explain items and presentation details to customers
  • · Coordinate with chefs to process and fulfill catering requests.
  • · Use catering software efficiently.
  • Plan deliveries and staffing in collaboration with management.
  • Ensure accurate, high-quality, and professionally delivered catering orders.
  • Follow up with customers and share feedback with management every two weeks.
  • Handle customer requests quickly and efficiently.
  • Support resolution of catering-related complaints, deferring final decisions to management.

Ella Private Dining Responsibilities

  • Assists the Director of Sales with Ella Private Dining Bookings
  • Conduct initial outreach for all private dining inquiries
  • Send and receive contracts
  • Secure reservations in OpenTable


Reservation Management Responsibilities:

  • Manage phone and online reservations to optimize seating.
  • Provide friendly, professional phone service and thank guests for calling.
  • Deliver excellent customer service with strong communication and organization.
  • Answer incoming calls and respond to guest emails promptly.
  • Share information about dinner, wine pairings, and The Kitchen dining experience.
  • Accurately assign tables and handle reservation mapping.
  • Address guest concerns and schedule-related questions.
  • Confirm and update guest information (name, email, phone).
  • Build guest profiles, noting dietary needs, special occasions, and preferences.
  • Use Microsoft Word, Excel, OpenTable, and Tock systems.
  • Assist with booking private events.
  • Manage high call volumes and multitask effectively.
  • Maintain accurate reading, writing, and typing skills.
  • Customer Service & General Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and manage customer feedback from email, Tattle, and online review platforms (e.g., Google, Yelp).
  • Respond to both positive and negative guest feedback in a timely, professional manner.
  • Address concerns and escalate unresolved issues to management when needed.
  • Acknowledge and thank guests for positive reviews to reinforce guest satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Compile weekly summaries of guest reviews and feedback.
  • Distribute review summaries to appropriate teams (e.g., management, culinary, operations) for awareness and action.
  • Maintain consistent communication to uphold brand reputation and improve the guest experience.
  • Any other duties as I assigned by upper management
  • Cooperates and interacts with colleagues in a positive, respectful manner and with a team approach, offering to assist as needed in order to ensure customer service.
  • Reports to work on time and as assigned per the schedule on a regular, consistent basis.
