Supervisor: Residential Program Director


Position Overview:

This position is responsible for overseeing and managing the member experience operations, administrative responsibilities, and staffing of TGP’s micro-community site, which provides residential-style shelter to women, transgender, and non-binary individuals through a contract with Denver’s Office of Housing Stability (HOST). This includes responsibility for promoting the safety and stability of shelter guests, supporting the achievement of programmatic outcomes, and collaborating effectively with the case management team and other shelter staff to ensure a safe and dignified living environment. The program manager must operate with a broad understanding of the population's various needs and an ability to create a safe and supportive environment for all shelter guests.

Core Accountabilities:

  • Demonstrate respect, cultural humility, and knowledge of trauma informed care in interactions with TGP members, staff, and collaborative partners.
  • Under supervision of and in collaboration with the Residential Program Director, develops and implements program frameworks that support contractual outcomes and that align with TGP’s mission, values, and strategic plan
  • Provide direct supervision to Resource Navigators on a routine and frequent basis, specifically through the lens of low barrier, trauma informed care, equity, and belonging.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained onsite at all times, to ensure the safety of members and staff, as well as appropriate levels of service. 
  • Oversees and manages daily operations, including intake and discharge of members, meal service, daily member support services, and room checks.
  • Works to create a low-barrier, trauma informed shelter environment for members.
  • Works as a collaborative member of the shelter leadership team to achieve established goals and outcomes, maintain a safe environment, and to resolve issues pertaining to members or operations
  • Routinely reviews all required reports and logs and identifies and addresses issues as needed
  • Is knowledgeable about programs at TGP and in the community and makes appropriate referrals to ensure we are offering our full range of support to meet the continuum of members’ needs.
  • Provide trauma-informed and supportive interventions for individuals who may be experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges due to the impact of substance use and/or the symptoms of mental illness.
  • Provide critical incident debriefing to members and/or staff after significant incidents and recommend intervention strategies.

Requirements

  • Must have skills in crisis management, conflict management, and de-escalation.
  • Previous shelter experience a plus
  • Team management and supervision experience is a plus
  • Lived experience of homelessness, housing instability, or poverty a plus
  • Strong understanding of harm reduction, low barrier, and trauma-informed care principles and skills
  • Ability to listen compassionately and suspend judgment in order to accommodate the needs of individuals and include them in a highly diverse setting
  • Ability to multi-task in a unique, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently or with a team
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Current knowledge of, or desire to learn, how to operate a computer and other office machinery, such as a copy machine or printer, and office software, such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and other programs.
