Sr Director, Enterprise Video

Welcome to Warner Bros. Discovery… the stuff dreams are made of.

Who We Are…

When we say, “the stuff dreams are made of,” we’re not just referring to the world of wizards, dragons and superheroes, or even to the wonders of Planet Earth. Behind WBD’s vast portfolio of iconic content and beloved brands, are the storytellers bringing our characters to life, the creators bringing them to your living rooms and the dreamers creating what’s next…

From brilliant creatives, to technology trailblazers, across the globe, WBD offers career defining opportunities, thoughtfully curated benefits, and the tools to explore and grow into your best selves. Here you are supported, here you are celebrated, here you can thrive.

CNN is seeking a highly experienced, dynamic and visionary Senior Director of Enterprise Video to lead our video-first reporting initiatives within the Enterprise unit. This role is central to shaping CNN’s most ambitious journalism across platforms, with a particular emphasis on deeply reported, visually compelling and impactful video stories.

Your New Role…

As Senior Director, you will be responsible for setting the creative and editorial direction of our enterprise video content—overseeing high-profile projects from pitch to publication. You’ll collaborate closely with CNN correspondents, producers, field teams, editors, and leadership to ensure our enterprise journalism is not only journalistically rigorous but also visually distinctive and emotionally resonant.

Your Role Accountabilities…

  • Develop and drive a modern, video-first editorial vision for enterprise, character-driven storytelling that resonates across digital, streaming and broadcast platforms.
  • Identify and nurture original reporting ideas and formats that push the boundaries of enterprise journalism at CNN.
  • Assess and manage budgets for projects.
  • Partner with correspondents, photojournalists and field teams to shape narrative arcs and visual strategies in early stages of reporting.
  • Guide teams through end-to-end production, including scripting, editing, graphics, sound design and publishing—ensuring every story is both factually sound and visually powerful.
  • Provide editorial and creative oversight on script writing, video edits, and final packages; offer constructive feedback and elevate the storytelling.
  • Collaborate with leadership across departments—including digital, linear, standards, legal, and PR—to ensure cross-platform alignment and journalistic integrity.

Qualifications & Experience…

  • 10+ years of video editorial production experience, preferably within a newsroom or breaking news environment
  • 3+ years of team leadership with direct people management responsibilities
  • Strong record of building and scaling video experiences or franchises
  • Previous experience overseeing multiple teams and/or an entire production unit or vertical
  • Demonstrated point of view of editorial vision and audience instinct
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking & ability to execute on strategy
  • Proven organizational and team leadership/development
  • Proven ability to innovate in visual storytelling and format development
  • Data fluency and performance-driven editorial planning
  • Interprets platform-native metrics, evaluates format impact on distribution, bridges creative strategy and technical distribution expertise.
  • Experience working with global teams is a plus
  • Strong communicator and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage interdependent, matrixed stakeholder relationships
  • Must be agile and adaptable in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment.

How We Get Things Done…

This last bit is probably the most important! Here at WBD, our guiding principles are the core values by which we operate and are central to how we get things done. You can find them at www.wbd.com/guiding-principles/ along with some insights from the team on what they mean and how they show up in their day to day. We hope they resonate with you and look forward to discussing them during your interview.
