Salary range: $60,000 - $65,000
Are you an eager and driven reporter looking for the next step in your career? Do you strive to find the next best and biggest story that will reach audiences across the US?
If you answered yes to those questions, then we just might have the role for you!
We are looking for a News Reporter to join our growing US newsroom team! Reporting into the Deputy News Editor, you will produce quality and exclusive content across three of our major titles; Mirror US, Express US & Irish Star, concentrating on US content. You will be responsible for covering stories in the US in a compelling and engaging way across breaking news.
Reach Plc is the UK’s largest commercial news publisher. We’re home to more than 130 trusted brands, from national titles like the Mirror, Express, Daily Record and Daily Star, to local brands like MyLondon, BelfastLive and the Manchester Evening News.
Since the start of 2023, we have been building out our US operation, headquartered at 200 Liberty St, New York. We’ve launched three standalone brands in the Mirror US, Express US and the Irish Star, covering news, sport, entertainment, politics and lifestyle - all targeted at US audiences.
We are looking to add ambitious and dynamic talent to our teams. So if you enjoy a rapid pace, a lively newsroom, a flat structure and the opportunity to work in a scale-up environment backed by the resources of a large organization, Reach Plc could be perfect for you!
As a Reporter, you will find and write exclusive stories and breaking news with speed and accuracy for our digital publication, that set us apart from rival publications and encourage audience engagement. You will attend forward planning meetings to coordinate our coverage of major upcoming events, and pitch stories to the editors on a daily basis with confidence.
You will write factually accurate copy without errors at speed that is compliant with law and industry standards. You will understand and monitor key traffic analytics and use these to inform decision-making as we continue to grow and reach new audiences.
You may be sent out to events as required, operating independently whilst on the road. You will also conduct interviews with contacts, whether in person or virtually, building relationships and trust in the industry.

Any shifts ending after 9:00pm EST will have the flexibility to be completed remotely. 1 in 3 weekend shifts a month are also required due to the nature of the role, however you will receive days back in lieu as a result.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and digitally savvy reporter, with their finger on the pulse of the latest news and is keen to get stuck into the biggest stories of the day. You have the ability to maintain acute attention to detail as you write factually accurate copy at speed and thrive when working in a fast-paced environment.
You will be able to demonstrate a passion and knowledge of breaking news and a detailed understanding of the US media landscape. You should possess a strong contacts book for exclusives, and be comfortable building relationships and trust with others in the industry.
