Responsibilities
- Develop and implement intellectual property strategy company-wide
- Manage global patent docket and independently draft and prosecute U.S. patent applications
- Provide prosecution strategy and instructions to foreign patent counsel
- Lead IP due diligence for licensing and strategic alliances
- Conduct freedom-to-operate, infringement, and validity analyses
- Analyze innovation disclosures and lead Patent Committee meetings
- Counsel internal stakeholders on patent and IP matters
- Advise on IP issues related to clinical trials and regulatory approval
- Supervise Senior Paralegal, Intellectual Property including performance management
- Foster collaborative team environment within Legal Department
- Maintain expertise on U.S. and foreign patent law and USPTO procedures
Education
- J.D. degree from an accredited U.S. law school
- Admission to practice law in California preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences (e.g., immunology, molecular biology)
- Master’s or Ph.D. degree preferred
