Position Summary:
Under general supervision of the Municipal Utilities Director, shall provide operational and compliance oversight for Water Treatment Plant and Drinking Water Distribution Departments. Provides technical support related to daily operations of the drinking water system including water treatment plant, water distribution, and related infrastructure.
An employee in this class must exercise considerable initiative and independent judgement.

Duties/Responsibilities:
· Supports and assists the Municipal Utilities Director in carrying out administrative and program standards for various Utility activities and services.
· Responsible for providing guidance and directives to both the Water Treatment Plant Superintendent and Water Distribution Superintendent regarding departmental operations, management, and regulatory compliance
· Assists the Municipal Utilities Director with updates to personnel and operational policies as needed.
· Manages day-to-day delivery of regulatory and compliance programs for water treatment and water distribution, at the discretion of the Municipal Utilities Director.
· Responsible for the delivery and oversight of the Drinking Water PFAS Program for City of Danville.
· Responsible for the delivery and oversight of the Drinking Water SCADA Program for City of Danville.
· Develops and administers drinking Water distribution and Water treatment Plant Inspection and preventative maintenance program.
· Develops and administers safety training for Water Treatment Plant and Water Distribution Department employees related to field operations and OSHA compliance.
· Develops and administers inspection schedules for the Water Treatment Plant and Water Distribution Department.
· Provides technical support to the Water Treatment Plant and Water Distribution Department as necessary.
· Works indoors and outdoors with occasional exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, precipitation, noise and machinery with moving parts.
· Develop strategies, short-term and long-term goals, and objectives to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Water Distribution and Water Treatment Plant operations
· Participates in project progress meetings to accomplish goals as needed.
· Prepares reports and responses to regulatory inquiries as needed.
· Assist Municipal Utilities Director with development and administration of annual budget for Water Distribution and Water Treatment Plant including Capital Improvements Plan.
· Attend Training programs as required or requested.
· Complete work required and attend relative professional development trainings.
· Assist Municipal Utilities Director with legal claims as needed.
· Assists in other departments when needed.
· Performs other duties as required.
Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of Water Treatment & Distribution operations.
· High level of attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
· Strong independent decision-making abilities.
· Knowledge of occupational safety practices and principles.
· Ability to work with minimal supervision.
· Strong working knowledge of the geography of The City of Danville.
· Ability to work in a team environment, with the ability to work across all levels of City officials, employees, agencies, organizations, and the general public.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather.
Education and Experience:
· High School Diploma or equivalent
· Must possess and maintain a valid drivers’ license
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemistry, biology or similar field is preferred.
· 5 years’ experience as a Water Distribution/ Water Treatment Superintendent or related supervisory position.
Certifications:
· Valid Kentucky Class IV Water Treatment Operator License; or
· Valid Kentucky Class IV Water Distribution Operator License
Physical Requirements:
· Must have 20/20 vision with or without corrective lenses.
· Must have adequate hearing levels with or without assistance in order to hear alarms and laboratory measuring equipment.
· Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
· Ability to lift up to 50lbs occasionally.
· Twisting, stooping, bending, and walking on a regular basis.
· Ability to crawl in and out of tight and confined spaces.
· Ability to climb up and down ladders, and over rough and irregular ground surfaces.

Compensation:
· $64,956 - $95,730 annually
· Starting salary will be commensurate with candidate's experience level.
