Manufacturing Area Manager

What you will do

Under management direction, is responsible for organization and implementation of plans, procedures, and policies necessary to maximize utilization of resources in line with area and plant goals.  Incorporate core values of safety, quality, and employee relations. Manages all or a substantial portion of the daily production function within a plant. Incorporates best-in-class practices to increase productivity and improve efficiencies. Focuses on development and management of production personnel, particularly next generation leadership. 

How you will do it

  • Supervises Manufacturing Supervisors in areas such as production, distribution, volume, cost, quality, and achievement of production plans.

  • Ensures good employee relations through Manufacturing Supervisors, including conducting meetings, approving requisitions, promotions, merit increases, transfers, and discipline

  • Maximizes efficiency and productivity of both Manufacturing Supervisors and production employees, ensuring efficient utilization of equipment and facilities.

  • Establishes goals and objectives for departments in conjunction with Manufacturing Supervisors, and administers the goal setting/performance appraisal program.

  • Handles selection, hiring, and development of Manufacturing Supervisors, and recommends merit increases, promotions, and transfers.

  • Coordinates activities with other production areas, plant staff managers, and division, and may develop weekly schedules with Production Control to meet customer requirements.

  • Ensures compliance with Company and Plant policies, health and safety standards, environmental regulations, hazardous waste, and good housekeeping practices.

  • Recommends and manages improvements in equipment and processes, ensures proper maintenance of machines, and coordinates long-term planning for major maintenance projects.

What we look for 

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field.   

  • Minimum 6+ years’ experience in manufacturing environment. 

  • Minimum 3+ year managing employees in manufacturing setting. 

What we do here

Our Toledo, Ohio fully integrated plant manufactures batteries used inautomotive and marine applications. This is our largest plant at Clarios. Weopened our facility in 1981 and now employ more than 700 people and operate six days per week. We are actively involved in our local community and giveback through the United Way, Habitat for Humanity, Cherry Street Mission, andRonald McDonald House.
