New York, NYVanity Fair is seeking a Global Director of Editorial Operations & Strategy to help reshape and evolve the editorial efforts at one of the world's most iconic magazine brands. This role will work closely with VF’s Global Editorial Director across multiple platforms, from print and digital, to social, video, and events, including live coverage. The ideal candidate is an organization and efficiency expert who has experience with emerging distribution models and audience development, and possesses strong communication skills. This person is able to build trust and consensus, and consistently show results.
This is an in-office role based in New York City, reporting to Vanity Fair’s Global Editorial Director.
Key Responsibilities
Direct the day-to-day editorial operations across Vanity Fair’s global editions, including US, Italy, France, Spain, and UK.
Act as the central point of contact for editorial teams, including visuals, design, audience development, research/copy, and legal departments.
Work closely with the Global Editorial Director and Global Audience Development Director to ensure the VF team achieves brand KPIs to ensure continued and sustained growth.
Take a lead role in helping shape, refine and implement the global editorial structure.
Develop and implement strategy around new and emerging technology and distribution models, from newsletters to audio to AI.
Implement and iterate on editorial workflows across departments, recognizing and seizing on opportunities for efficiency.
Budget management of contents’ costs and editorial operating expenses globally, across platforms. Oversight across all global VF contents and OPEX budgets, allocations and the corresponding strategy, in partnership with VF’s Business Manager and Finance.
Oversee digital editorial productivity and strategy, in partnership with local Editorial Operations managers
Manage all people-related matters, working with editorial leaders and local People teams across territories
Serve as a liaison for Vanity Fair’s commercial and marketing departments, managing editorial feedback, and evaluating and executing strategic initiatives.
Act as a key stakeholder on all product, workflow, company-wide initiatives and tech roll-outs as they impact Vanity Fair globally.
Oversee implementation of global contributor contracts, working with Business Manager and Business Affairs.
Take a lead role in the onboarding of any senior editorial staff across all markets.
Direct management responsibility for the Editorial Operations Team.
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
10+ years in editorial operations, production, or content strategy roles across platforms
Experience working globally across markets
Ability to build strong relationships with a range of different leaders from diverse backgrounds
Strong editorial instincts and an enthusiasm for creativity
Experience with and understanding of operating in a matrixed environment
Possess emotional intelligence, sound judgement and ability to act with discretion at all times
Exceptional prioritization, efficiency, and organizational skills, including the ability to wear many hats
Strong problem-solving and diplomacy skills
Comfortable with managing budgets and financial reporting
Directly manage Operations function, lead by example in inspiring, developing, motivating, and uniting the team across markets.
Foster an environment of collaboration and innovation to overcome creative challenges while simultaneously meeting business objectives.
Passion and genuine interest for the Vanity Fair brand, and its expression across platforms
The expected base salary range for this position is from $190,000-$233,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.
In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates may also be eligible to receive discretionary bonus compensation.
