Galileo is looking for an experienced leader to join our team as a Field Program Manager. As Galileo grows our presence and sites throughout Northern California, this role will be instrumental in creating a best-in-class staff experience for our Camp Directors and summer staff, which in turn will create an exceptional camp experience for our valued families. Reporting to the Area Director and as part of a centralized Field Leadership team, the Field Program Manager will support camp operations and marketing across the region.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a team of Camp Directors; creating professional development opportunities, giving timely feedback, and building a safe, welcoming staff team that values belonging, joy, and camp innovation & fun.
Provide remote and on-site management and logistical support to Summer Day camps across a region encompassing Marin, Alameda, and Contra Costa counties.
Create a community within your area and beyond through networking, insight sharing, and participating in regional events and activities to ensure that the critical elements of Galileo camp culture are modeled to their staff and campers.
In partnership with the Area Director, develop camp operating plans for each managed site and train Camp Directors on all logistics and operations.
In partnership with the L&D team, develop content for training Camp Directors, including facilitating retreat logistics and content, developing coaching materials, and deploying coaching capacity across sites.
Partner with our People Operations Team to hire, onboard, train, and support our Camp Director team throughout the hiring process and the pre-camp season.
Serve as an escalation point for your team on issues or challenges; assist in resolution that balances customer care and program needs.
Contribute to planning and project work that elevates camp resources and operational processes; collaborate cross-functionally to thoughtfully design—and when needed, redesign—elements of the camp experience.
Monitor and respond to feedback from customers and staff based on surveys and on-site observations to identify and mitigate challenges and performance gaps, and deliver excellent customer service
Serve as an ambassador for Camp Galileo in Northern California by executing a field marketing strategy that includes events, distributing flyers in local neighborhoods, attending camp fairs, community building and providing support and management of marketing efforts to increase enrollment across the area.

Work Location & Schedule
This is a full-time position, averaging 40 hours per week Fall through Spring, with increased hours during Summer months. While we prioritize work-life balance, there may be times when additional hours are necessary to meet deadlines and ensure the success of our programs.
Employees located in the San Francisco Bay area adhere to a hybrid office and work-from-home policy, and are expected to be in the office 1-2 days per week in addition to attending occasional off-site meetings and events. Galileo Headquarters is located at 111 Myrtle St, Ste 300, Oakland, CA 94607. Additionally, the Field Program Manager is expected to visit camp locations from June through August to support our teams on the ground, 4-5 days per week, during the camp season.
Compensation
We anticipate total compensation for this Full-Time, exempt position to be $80,000-$90,000. Exact compensation may vary and will be based on multiple factors, including geography and professional experience.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Experience in complex staff management (either multi-site, program, or distributed teams) and managing youth programs or services
Experience with marketing and community communications preferred
2+ years experience working with K-8 education; experience working at camps and/or out-of-school time programs a bonus
3+ years experience managing individuals and a team
Experience with staff hiring, recruiting, training, development, and feedback a must
Ability to travel in and around the Greater Bay Area with minimal notice, including traveling to multiple sites in one day and/or working full days onsite at locations spanning from Fremont to Marin.
Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings, including being available to work extended hours during the camp season to support camp operations 7:30 a.m. - 6 p.m., including full days for some preparation weekends and providing direct support to staff outside of camp hours.
