Inspire the next generation with us! Under the direction of the Early Learning Center Director, the Floater Teacher supports various classrooms as needed to maintain staffing ratios and ensure a safe, nurturing environment for children ages 15 months to 5 years. This position primarily assists with daily routines, is responsible for adapting to different lesson plans, and implementing developmentally appropriate activities for the various classroom assignments. The Floater Teacher collaborates with classroom staff to provide consistent care and a positive learning experience. This position follows a 10-month school-year schedule aligned with the Center’s school calendar and this position will be eligible for some or all benefits depending on final agreement for regularly scheduled hours.

Level of benefit eligibility will ultimately depend on the regular schedule upon hire and aligned with the Plan document and regulations. Education and Experience: Massachusetts EEC teacher certification is required or must be willing and able to become certified upon hire and within the first year of employment. Requires at least 2 years’ experience working with young children in a classroom setting. Candidate must be at least 18 years of age and have a High School diploma or equivalent.
*Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted at the JCC’s discretion to meet this minimum hiring criteria.
Skills and Abilities:
Requires knowledge and familiarity with the needs of families with young children, with a creative ability to translate ideas, feedback, and data into innovative and meaningful experiences that meet the needs of families, including but not limited to:
Physical Requirements: Able to work well and reliably in person in a busy, dynamic, and sometimes noisy environment involving multiple tasks and priorities. Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Able to sit and kneel; getting down at eye level with children regularly. Adapt to varying environmental conditions, including temperature fluctuations within the building or during outdoor activities. This position is performed on-site and requires in-person presence on JCC Sharon Campus.
