Principal Product Manager for OpenTelemetry (App SDKs)
Skills
- Passion and deep understanding of OpenTelemetry components and open standards.
- At least 3 years of technical product management experience focusing on API-driven or developer-focused products.
- Hands-on knowledge of observability and instrumentation, ideally from practicing SRE, DevOps, software development, or solution architecture roles.
- Strong user journey and customer insight capabilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills adaptable between technical and executive audiences.
- Experience collaborating in open-source and cross-functional environments.
Responsibilities
- Define and evangelize the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for OpenTelemetry instrumentation aligning with observability goals.
- Engage with developers, SREs, and platform engineers to deeply understand user needs and build customer-centric solutions.
- Actively participate and influence the OpenTelemetry community, contributing to specifications and fostering collaboration.
- Collaborate with engineering, design, and developer relations teams to translate user insights into successful product features.
- Establish and measure KPIs around adoption, time-to-value, ease-of-use, and data quality to evaluate product success.
- Work with marketing, sales, and architects to communicate differentiated value propositions for OpenTelemetry integrations.
- Represent Elastic’s OpenTelemetry strategy at conferences, webinars, and customer engagements.
Education
- Relevant degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field preferred.
