Job Description

The Transformation Officer will lead and facilitate transformational change efforts aligned with the strategic priorities outlined in Journey to Eminence 2035, advancing the vision and mission of Prairie View A&M University. This role involves collaborating with campus stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of key strategic initiatives across a range of domains—including Academics, Research, Administration, and other critical areas that drive institutional efficiency and impact.

The Transformation Officer will champion operational and strategic excellence by enforcing strong process discipline, implementing robust metrics for performance tracking, ensuring transparent progress reporting, and guiding comprehensive change management strategies. The position requires a forward-thinking leader who can foster cross-functional collaboration, drive measurable outcomes, and sustain momentum for high-priority projects across the University.

This position is funded by a grant or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal of grant or restricted funding.

Responsibilities:

  • Champion the success of transformation initiatives by working closely with project leads and initiative owners to identify and remove execution barriers.

  • Partner with campus leadership to ensure initiatives are aligned with institutional priorities and deliver measurable impact.

  •  Oversee the timely and on-budget implementation of strategic initiatives, ensuring results are tracked and outcomes realized.

  • Strategically manage resources to ensure sufficient capacity and support for key transformation efforts.

  • Proactively identify implementation issues or delays; lead root cause analysis and solution development to maintain project momentum.

  • Direct the operations of the Transformation Office and contribute to shaping the overall strategic direction of the university's transformation agenda.

  • Foster a culture of accountability through weekly check-ins, status reviews, and performance tracking to ensure delivery of results.

  • Provide regular progress updates to both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment.

  • Challenge outdated assumptions, drive innovation, and inspire teams to exceed traditional boundaries and performance expectations.

  • Serve as a problem-solver and escalation point for critical issues impeding progress, working cross-functionally to drive resolution.

  • Identify and mitigate risks proactively, adjusting course as needed to ensure sustained success.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, social sciences, organizational leadership, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.

  • Five to seven (5 -7) years of progressive experience in large, multi-stakeholder environments undergoing significant transformation.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated experience in developing, executing, and managing strategic and operational plans.

  • Proven ability to organize, analyze, and present data; maintain accurate records; and prepare professional reports.

  • Experience facilitating high-impact meetings, leading trainings, and delivering presentations to various stakeholder groups.

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to effectively engage internal and external stakeholders.

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a high-performing team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's or Doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution.

  • Five to seven (5–7) years of leadership experience in a higher education setting, particularly in areas related to institutional transformation.

  • Prior experience developing and implementing programs and services that improve institutional effectiveness, student outcomes, and stakeholder satisfaction.

  • Deep understanding of university operations and functional areas such as enrollment management, academic affairs, finance, student affairs, and institutional advancement.
