Ophthalmology Sales Lead will be responsible for selling MERIT’s products and services in ophthalmology as measured by service contract execution. Builds long-term relationships with pharmaceutical and device clients, as well as key external stakeholders, with a view towards capturing increasing market share of ophthalmology clinical trials. Will contribute to building a team of Direct-to-Sponsor (D2S) sales associates for US-based ophthalmology clients. Develops and implements strategies and tactics designed to increase awards from existing clients, plus capture new opportunities. Builds a robust knowledge of current industry trends and emergent development pipelines from ophthalmology sponsors. Maintains and elevates customers’ awareness of MERIT’s services and/or products through iterative promotion of MERIT’s offerings. Assists MERIT’s leadership in increasing brand awareness within the global ophthalmology community.

Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, excellent attention to detail, ability to follow direction, assess Company needs and work independently. Computer skills include proficiency in Microsoft Office software and ability to learn Company specific software. Must be able to project a professional attitude and image appropriate for the work environment.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to draft reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to participate and contribute to a team environment as a team member or in a leadership role. Oral and written communication is clear, concise, and effective.
