Enterprise Business Development Associate

The Organization

What if K-12 education were designed to help all students develop lives of meaning and purpose? Wayfinder was founded at the Stanford d.school to answer this question. Our goal is to double our impact each year for the coming years. Our vision is to become the preeminent future-readiness curriculum company in the world — leading the global movement of purpose, meaning, and belonging-based education worldwide.

What We Value

You’ll be joining a team of incredibly motivated and dedicated staff members committed to living our organization's values. We work collaboratively across teams, and we feel and act like a purpose-driven organization. To the best of our abilities, each person’s role aligns with their own sense of purpose, which feeds into Wayfinder’s larger sense of purpose.

Read this article about our workplace culture in Conscious Company.

We value equal access, inclusive community, and belonging, and these values are represented in our product, our team, and our school partners.

Product: We develop our learning tools using human-centered design principles. We work with grade-level experts to ensure our curriculum is developmentally appropriate and engaging at all levels. Every Wayfinder lesson is supported by relevant research, prototyped in classrooms, and vetted by teachers over rounds of feedback and iteration. We use Universal Design for Learning principles to give every student an equal opportunity to succeed.

Team: Our team is composed of people from all different backgrounds and walks of life. We intentionally recruit, hire, and work with people of all identities + experiences. We focus on belonging: being connected, accepted, and valued by the people around us.

School Partners: We intentionally target a wide array of educational partners, from traditional to non-traditional, that work with a range of students from different socioeconomic groups. We’ve taught our curriculum in high-need schools in the Bronx, independent schools in Silicon Valley, and after-school programs in San Antonio.

The Role

Wayfinder is seeking an Enterprise Business Development Associate to work closely with and directly support the National Senior Director of Enterprise Sales. This is a unique hybrid role that combines enterprise business development with high-level executive support. You’ll play a critical part in driving outreach to large school districts (serving 40,000+ students) while also ensuring seamless day-to-day support for the NSDES in service of Wayfinder’s highest-impact partnerships.

This role is a perfect fit for someone with experience in business development, education, and executive support — and who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. You’ll gain exposure to top district leaders across the country, deepen your understanding of the education technology space, and play a key role in advancing Wayfinder’s mission.

Your work will center around outbound prospecting and sales enablement — identifying and qualifying new leads, nurturing relationships with high-level education leaders, and preparing prospects for meetings with the NSDES. At the same time, you’ll provide critical behind-the-scenes support, including managing her inbox and calendar, updating Salesforce, preparing resources, booking travel, sending contracts, and keeping all moving pieces organized and on track.

The right candidate brings a collaborative learner’s mindset, a strong understanding of public school systems, and a natural curiosity for how education works at scale. You are energized by building relationships, persistent in pursuit of impact, and adaptable to the evolving needs of a growing team. You’ll need to be a systems thinker who is also detail-oriented, resourceful, and comfortable pivoting between external-facing and internal operational work.

This role may require occasional travel to join the NSDES at high-level district meetings and education conferences.

We strongly encourage people from traditionally underrepresented populations in tech - such as women, People of Color, People with Disabilities, and LGBTQ+ people, etc - to apply!

About the Role
We are seeking a highly organized, proactive, and mission-aligned team member to serve in a hybrid role that blends enterprise-level business development with high-level executive support. This person will help expand Wayfinder’s presence in large school districts (40K+ students) by securing strategic meetings, managing outreach efforts, and supporting our National Senior Director of Enterprise Sales (NSDES) in high-impact tasks.

Due to the blended nature of this role and the seasonal rhythm of the work, responsibilities are divided approximately 50/50 across the year. The first half of the year is primarily focused on scheduling meetings and coordinating with partners. The second half of the year shifts toward closing deals and managing a range of sales operations tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Business Development (50%)

  • Represent Wayfinder’s Products and Services: Develop a strong understanding of our K–12 solutions and conduct market research to align our offerings with the evolving needs of large school districts.
  • Generate Leads and Build Relationships: Nurture warm prospects and identify new opportunities to expand our reach into major districts across the country.
  • Manage and Maintain a Pipeline: Partner closely with the NSDEP to support prospects through every stage of the sales journey, from first outreach to signed contract.
  • Utilize Sales Tools: Leverage Salesforce, Outreach.io, cold emailing/calling, and objection handling strategies to generate high-value opportunities.
  • Articulate Value Propositions: Communicate Wayfinder’s offerings with clarity and enthusiasm in both written and verbal formats, helping to secure meetings and steward sales prospects with district decision-makers.
  • Schedule Meetings: Schedule and coordinate strategic meetings between prospective districts and the NSDEP.

Executive and Sales Operations Support (50%)

  • Inbox and Calendar Management: Serve as a point of coordination for the NSDEP by triaging emails, managing scheduling logistics, and ensuring timely follow-up with key stakeholders.
  • Contract and Documentation Support: Prepare and send contracts, ensure accurate data entry in Salesforce, and manage proposal and documentation needs.
  • Travel and Event Coordination: Book travel, prepare itineraries, and support logistics for conferences and on-site district visits.
  • Resource Sharing and Communication: Send follow-up materials, maintain communication with leads, and keep the sales pipeline organized and moving forward.
  • Extensive Networking Skills: At least 3–5 years of relevant work experience with a demonstrated ability to interface effectively with high-level school district administrators.
  • Proven Sales Experience: 1–2 years of sales/business development experience, with a history of exceeding lead generation targets.
  • Exceptional Communication Skills: Strong and polished written and verbal communication abilities across phone, Slack, and email.
  • Creative Problem Solving: A naturally resourceful person who enjoys finding creative solutions, thinks outside the box, and brings strong analytical skills to complex challenges.
  • Self-Starter Mentality: Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities — someone who is energized by possibility and can independently navigate ambiguity.
  • Persistent and Skilled Outreach Expertise: Energized by the challenge of getting a “yes” — has experience in cold calling, managing follow-up, and handling objections with a positive, determined approach.
  • Relationship Builder: Has a warm, curious, and engaging presence that allows them to build and maintain relationships with even the hardest-to-reach stakeholders.
  • Joyful Go-Getter: Approaches work with positivity, resilience, and a “let’s figure it out” attitude. Finds motivation in the thrill of meaningful outreach, adapts quickly, and brings both enthusiasm and steadiness to changing daily needs.

Preferred Experience

  • EdTech and K-12 Education: Prior experience or demonstrated interest in the EdTech sector and/or K-12 education. CRM Proficiency: Experience working with Salesforce or other CRM software.

Compensation

$70,000-$80,000 range, plus a commission/bonus structure.

We offer a competitive package that is based on location and experience. We also offer the following benefits:

  • Stock Options: Ownership in a fast-growing venture-backed company.
  • 401k: We care about your ability to save for your future.
  • Family Focus: Parental leave and flexibility for families.
  • Time Off: Flexible vacation policy to encourage people to get out and see the world.
  • Healthcare: Medical, dental, and vision policies.
  • Goodies: Whatever hardware and software you need to get the job done.
  • Team Fun: Regularly scheduled events, annual retreat, and celebrations.
  • Learning: Learning & Development Opportunities to grow your skills and career.
  • Great team: Working with fun, hard-working, kind people committed to making a difference!
  • Flexible culture: We are results-focused. We don’t work at the office every day.
  • And much more! Lots of other perks make this company an incredible place to work.
